Thought it might be fun to share what we gave and what we received considering BigFooty is largely anonymous which helps uphold the integrity of Secret Santa/Secret Elephant/Kris Kringle.

Personally, I gave a $50 BWS voucher and put a bit of effort into the card which by all accounts was quite well received, and then I got a pair of sunnies as my FB profile pic is me in a pair of broken ones, so I thought that was extremely thoughtful.

50 bucks at BWS and you'd still need to put money towards it for a carton of anything other than TUI

Don't mind how our team at work does it. You can't buy anything; it has to be something from your home. All the gifts go on a table, unwrapped. Then you draw numbers and pick something from the table. Subsequent numbers can pick from the table or steal someone else's gift.

Similar with the extended in-laws, but you buy a present for $30 and wrap it, but the same selection from the pile and stealing rules in place.

They have a different name for that style of secret santa don't they? Evil santa or something? Because of the stealing option. We did it once. I ended up with something I regifted the following year.

Yeah, KK, Secret Santa, Evil Santa, Shit Santa. One of those things where it has numerous names but we all know what they refer to.

Got some puzzle/brain teaser like thing which will be fun to try when I can be bothered, and Kitty Flanagan's book which should be a good read.

I bought the Neale Daniher book for our Stealing Santa with friends. For the work KK I got my person a Thor pop vinyl. Both gifts were well received.

I've had two experiences with a 'stealing presents' style of Kris Kringle. The first one was when I was in Grade 6 when we used the standard format of choosing to steal or open. I opened a Cadbury Stocking first, held a box of Peanut M&M's for a while and ended with two boxes of regular M&M's, so I was pretty happy

The second was when I first saw the Christmas Party episode of The Office, where Michael decided to turn their standard Secret Santa into what he described as 'yankee swap' in an effort to have someone take the homemade oven mitt given to him by Phyllis, and also to bridge the gap between the gift he received and the gift he gave (despite everyone else sticking to the $20 limit, he spent hundreds more on an iPod for Ryan). Chaos ensured as everyone tried to steal the iPod, while also opening personalised gifts not intended for them. The other big focus during the swap was Jim hoping Pam would end up with the teapot he had bought for her (which included numerous inside joke items and a card explaining his feelings for her)

Getting back to the topic this year, Year 8 was the last time I was involved in a Kris Kringle. I received a large box of Favourites, which I ate in one sitting
