Plus the draft selection process has continued to be refined. As each year goes by, the chances of recruiting a top 10 dud, are reduced.

Yes but we're not the first to blow a top 10 pick.
Still puzzling how we stuffed that one.
Don't they do Psych tests and background checks?
Yeah we did psych tests and he passed them with flying colours.

I think you will find that a club was fed a lot porkies from their "sources"

Whose payroll were they on - or are they still with us?

Got fed a lot of porkies by his club and a few scouts who are no longer with us. AFC were fuming after it became clear what has happened. We even went to the AFL for a compensation pick and they laughed in our face. We did a backround check which came up clean for obvious reasons. And no he didn't have a criminal record at the time.

Do the clubs get paid if their players are drafted??
What benefit did the club receive by not being completely open?

Need to find a decent psychologist then, as it wouldn't have been hard to work out Angwin has problems. AFC Should have sued them for professional negligence! :o

Why do you say that
Just reading between the lines of things I have heard. Hall appears to have some attitude issues.

Sure the chances of recruiting a dud have reduced, but they are still there. I would swap a top 10 pick for a proven quality player anytime, as there is still a considerable risk.

We have been good at those sort of deals But

We are not going to get an established, or potential Franchise player for a top 10 pick. Look what we had to pay for Carey as an example.

Yes 2nd tier player for a 2nd tier player aka Massie but to get the next Macleod, Jarman, Rehn, ... we are going to have to get top 10 picks.

Yes lets be agressive and trade player/players for a second top 10 pick, and then on-trade for an established player. But lets get a Reiwold, Cooney, Silvia as examples to replace our aging superstars.

I think you will find they do now. Reckon that is why AFC picked Kreuger over Hall.

You can bet your sweet bippy that's why they weren't game to go near Hall, even as a second rounder.

Krueger WANTS to play with Adelaide which gives him a chance of making it.

What do you think his chances are of playing this year?

Carlton were willing to swap their priority pick (#2) for Nick Stevens, before the deal fell through. Who would you prefer the proven Stevens with years left or the unproven Walker?

IMO, probably will only get a chance if we have injuries to several KPP ... however stranger things have happened. If he puts in some decent games for the Bays & AFC feel they need a 2nd big key defender (on top of another Hound dummy spit), he may get a chance as a key defender.

TWT but absolutely Walker KPP with speed and ball carrying capabilities.

And I think Carlton would dispute, they were prepared to do that deal.

The clubs do get paid if their player gets drafted. It also shows on the record that they are capable of producing "draftable" players. Clubs have plenty to prove but at the same time plenty to lose.

I actually think that was a huge porky because I think Carlton were never ever going to trade that #2 pick unless they were ripping another team off and Stevens for #2 pick was a rip off but it wouldn't have gone in Carlton's favour.

I think they were never ever going to trade that pick it was just a tactical ploy that was helped along by Collingwood's inability to make a decent trade.

If he plays well for the bays he will get his chance.

If training track "form" is anything to go by both Krueger and Watts will get a handful of games this year. I also think players like Reilly, Schuback, Hentschel and Bock will get a handful of games if their form warrants it and are injury free.

Yeah but Collingwood's does.

FFS - stiffy, I am going to try and stay polite but you do not seem to understand how the ruck division functions.

When collingwood stole the game at footy park last year, they thumped us in the clearances and we won all the taps.
why was that?

Because Collingwood's midfielders worked inside their man and got to the fall of the ball first. ie. they read our taps better than our own midfielder, they got the front spot and went on from there.

You say that stats don't support my argument and I am providing you with another example where stats don't support your argument either. Clearences cannot be directly linked to the ruckman dominatig tapout. Thats something that a lot of people don't understand. You mentioned Collingwood as an example you can also say that same thing happened in round 2 against St. Kilda.

Woewoedin didn't have an opponent all night.

Would say one of Torney or Massie will also play but not certain which one.

I'd agree with most of this. Maybe Edwards forward & Johncock back. Massie in, Torney no certainty.

Perrie pressing hard for a spot up forward - and I hope Schuback in a forward paocket. Begley perhaps ? to fill out the HB spots.

Arhhhhhh, don't remind me.  Was obvious to everyone except the people who mattered - Ayres & Mattner.

I'd have to say that if Voss didn't hurt us against Brisbane in the finals, Woewodin was almost kickless when we played Collingwood.

Ok, following your logic let's take this further then,

If the collingwood midfielders worked inside our guys and read the taps better, - how is that our ruckman's fault?

or are you saying that our ruckman tap to space, not looking for our guys, and the pies guessed better than our lot?

which is it?
