For a long time now we have been told that we (the Kanga supporters) are not loud enough . I thought on Friday noight that we were great in the first half (well that was the only we had a chance to yell, barrack etc). I can remember in 96 being very very loud.
On Saturday night the Bummers had a lets shout thingy come up on their score board each time they got a goal. Why would the Bummers need to be encouraged to shout, there are enough of them to bring the house down you would think. The Bummer supporters by the way, hated the scoreboard and being told to shout.
Well the Essendon F.C are the ones who got the whole hing together. They say there supporters are not loud enough anymore. Complacency, thats what it is. They have won their flag and they expect their team to play exactly as they are playing now, so it isnt as exciting as it used to be. I asked my bomber husband about this on Sat night, and that is exactly what he said. I have always thought that this is what has happened to the Kanga supporters over the years, and now that we are not doing it as easy as we used to,we respond more when they do something great. I know that there are not a lot of us, but I doink that answersthe question as to why we have not been as loud as we should have been over the past few years.

As those around me will have noticed, I'm not at all vocal. Just can't shout (no it's not just a footy thing, very quiet person). Seemed to surprise one or two people.
I am trying to address this problem by drinking more. :D

and something else that made me happy on Friday night... most North supporters stayed till the end of the game... maybe complacency has left the Roo-fans... at last...

Yes Daphne, I've being saying that for years............

It also happens that alot of our supporters are old fogies as well and they are not noisy. But, yes it did get a few of them up and I think more are coming to the game as well as we are not guarranted to win each week.

Maybe the North supporter bear has woken from it's slumber..... :)

You're not an old fogie Daphne, when you start taking your croque'ed North blanket to the games, THAT is when you are an old fogie!:D

Nah, there is a proven mathematical equation for oldness.

Oldness = (nuf)^2 - (ncf*3.14159) + e^2*nufn - ncfn

nuf = number of uncontrolled farts
ncf = number of controlled farts
nufn = number of uncontrolled farts noticed
ncfn = number of controlled farts noticed

In simple terms, if you dont notice your uncontrolled farts then you are very old, whilst younger people have the ability to keep a count of their controlled farts during the day.

The above formula explains why peak human mind power is late teens and why very old people $hit the bed.

Methinks that Choppy is involved in mathematics in some way or he has a very good memory for Year 9 maths........3.14159 is better known as pi......hmmmm....... ;)

You're so fine

I'm sorry you have a problem with her appearance Spidey, she's actually a very nice human being.

Once again we behaved like real supporters last night, even the King had a smile on his face.

The supporter who was standing behind me last night was so loud. "No wonder he goes to the football on his own". "He as lucky he was barracking for us, otherwise we would have had him removed". I think when he was yelling he was spitting on my head". "He had had a few drinks". "He knew all the Bulldog players as well". "God he was loud". "If we see him again we will make sure we dont stand to close next time".

All the above, a converstation between my friend and I on the packed train on the way home. Only to look up and notice that the person hanging off the hand strap looking down at us was he ...him.... who would have thought five hundred people on the train, trains going in all directions and there he is:o :o :o :o

Just wanted to say great work against the Doggies - by the team and supporters!

The London Mullet

Hello all, I wanted my first post to be a good one but instead I find myself starting with an apology. Behaved very badly on Friday night, I did. Got very ugly actually. Was told to shut up & sit down quite a number of times. Not by fellow supporters, they just quietly squirmed and tried not to look my way.

I'm normally vocal but not too bad but honestly when the free kick count was 9 to 18 in doggies favour and they were bleeting about a free kick not paid to them in their goal square, I just had to make a stand.

Anyway, to all those North people sitting near me on the 4th level, very sorry for my behaviour. Will be better next time. I promise.

Must also add loved your work guys, I've never contributed before but have clocked on regularly to enjoy your comments. Their may not be many of us, as we're constantly being reminded but, ******** we've got quality!

Rooboy, I have to mention that I still giggle when thinking of your post some time back describing your ordeal heading back from Geelong after that marvelous win...:D
