To be honest, their casting of pretty much every role is spot on. So many characters are extra funny beause of their delivery, Jackie, Puddy, Peterman, etc

I for one have never gotten MASH. I don't dislike it in fact it's a mildly amusing show but I never found it that funny.
Frasier was better in Cheers than in Frasier.
The Frasier from "Frasier" was far more elitist then the Frasier from Cheers who ,while still being somewhat snobbish, was like one of the guys.

Although not anywhere near funny enough to qualify as comedy, how's about The Nanny? Set in New York (dunno where it was shot, but L.A sounds about right) and CHOCK-FULL of Jewish characters.
New York has a sizeable Jewish population. I think they pioneered the bagel, and that's pretty much a New York icon now. Lots of Irish and Italian and even Puerto Rican roots there too, but they don't seem to be as prominent in TV culture.
Apart from in cop shows.
