I know this has been posted before, but one of my favourite scenes from this episode is when Elaine and Rava have that argument in the elevator about coincidences.

"That's what a coincidence is! There are no small coincidences and big coincidences!"

The way she kept saying that had be cracking up.

Kramer: Well, let's just say that I won't have to work for a long,LONG time
Jerry: That's funny because I haven't seen you work in a long,LONG time
Love it.

I'd like to know how funny this show is without the laughtrack!

I dont think Kramer is all that funny

I have been to NYC and it drained my enjoyment of the show, eg the likes of Newman, Kramer are all mere typical New Yorkers and it doesnt make sense how this show managed to achieve so much outside of NY, especially in a country like Australia

If anything, Curb your enthusiasm is comedy gold because there is no laughtrack

I don't think Kramer is the funniest out of the four but he's still funny as ****!

One thing I love about the DVD's is the bloopers & commentaries, Jerry & Elaine's laugh on the commentaries is brilliant.

Seinfeld was filmed in front of a live studio audience. Pretty sure they only used the laugh track for locations away from the indoor set (ie, away from the coffee shop or Jerry's apartment).

In fact, after a few seasons, the audience had to be told not to go bananas when Kramer entered the apartment, as Larry David thought it was throwing off the rhythm of the show.

Also, I'm pretty sure I saw on the DVD extras, that a lot of the location scenes were filmed and then played back to the audience, and that laugh was captured and used in the show. Technically a laugh track I guess, but not in the true sense of the word.

Ha. The irony of this is the show was filmed entirely in Los Angeles. The actors never set foot in New York.

Same with HIMYM and Friends, and probably Sex and the City too- all set heavily in NY, all filmed in LA

I read that, too. Pretty easy to make a place seem like NY, just show some vague sidewalk with a florist or news stand, and throw in a few scenes by or in a park. Oh, and cramped apartment buildings.

On all the backlots of the big studios in LA (WB, Universal etc) there is a full set that looks like a block of NYC. See video below:
