Opinion Select an Adelaide Crows side 1980-89

We now know that the Adelaide Crows came into the AFL in 1991 and since done very well, winning two flags.

But what if the Crows came much earlier ie 1980-89, if the VFL at the time agreed to a national comp and there was an SA team in the VFL.

Select a likely Adelaide Crows line-up based on players from SA's golden era of football 1980-89 (ie Aish, Ebert, McDermott, Platten, McIntosh etc).

Here's my Adelaide Crows side of the 1980s:

Interesting you only have 2 non Port players on the centre, half back, and full back lines, but only 1 Port player forward of it. Not sure I'd have Tony Giles at CHB, or even in the team to be honest. I'd put Winter to CHB and maybe Mick Taylor to back pocket.

Peter Motley is also a noteable absentee and would put him ahead of Abernathy. Not sure I could justify Ginever either.

Interesting exercise.Tony hall would be in the starting line up for mine.Ahead of Roberts.

I'd also have McGuiness as the first rover ahead of Platten and Jonas anywhere on the forward line.

Needs more Mark Naley, Peter Motley, Greg Whittlesea, A Jarman, G Fielke, G Anderson, and a few others.

Also Jack Cahill won 4 flags to Cornes' 2 in the 80's, far superior coach.
