Not really, and certainly not specifically, but the intel I've been able to glean suggests we're not exactly high on the available prospects. Whether that's because we just don't rate anybody who's left over, or whether we don't think anyone we like will sneak past 7 PSD picks, 6 zone selections, and 17 rookie picks is unknown.

So essentially, I just mentioned a couple of guys who've been linked to Collingwood by Burgatron or by rumour, in the hope that I'm wrong.

Kyle Hartigan, Michael Barlow and i think Johnny Rayner are with Essendon.

That's a Few we also been linked too are Training

I know Burgan mentioned us in relation to Barlow, and I think Rayner last year (?); but when were we linked to Hartigan?

do we get a pick in pre season draft?

We don't have a pre season draft pick, as our senior list is full now.

I believe it's 2 rookie spots and an international rookie spot that we have available, as suggested by everyones projected picks here.

Just posted mine (with more details and reasons) in the 2009 rookie draft thread but I will put them in here as well:

#18 Sean Tighe

#34 Levi Casboult; and

# 46 "The Lanky Yank" Shae Mac.

TRS I see you have gone with Irving and Pendles Snr which may end up being on the money but are either even available for selection? I know there was some conjecture pre ND as to whether or not Irving had nominated. Has Pendles Snr ever nominated for a draft? I can't seem to find the nominations list anywhere and neither are on the AFL's meet the draftees page. Can anyone shed any light on this?

I'm pretty sure that both are available.

Frankly if we're going to go with the obvious candidates, ie. the ones with whom we've been linked already, I'd probably prefer that we looked at Weston before Irving or Pendlebury, so that's another option. At least, supposedly, we rate him and he has pace even though he plays a position we have reasonably well covered. If he could play wing instead of half-back, his value to us would increase.

Yeah I like us to take Weston and we do have a Interest in him and he can become a KPP Player

189cm/88kg seems like a longshot for KP.

Are we any chance of picking up a mature age player (if still available) with a rookie draft selection I.e;
-Mark Couglan
-Russel Robertson
-Luke Ablett
-Scott Harding
-Same Power

thoughts?

1. a KP insurance policy esp FB. I'd like Tighe, Donaldson, but suspect 'insurance' means 'already strong bodied' - Kris Pendlebury - as younger than LBrown insurance; I'm not convinced he individually will make it at AFL but this might be more about a 'now' team outcome than an individual's one? Time could tell.

2. a mature age potential run-with/ tagger -Sewell, Irving

=
Pendlebury
Irving

Agree with TD and Royal above that this sounds a bit unadventurous. But we would be insuring our young list with strong bodies, rather than stringing it out into even younger realms. There's already an incredible logjam developing between these youngsters - talls and mids on the existing list. Add to that, we have three NSW rookies on our hands end of next year, Young, Witts, Perry, that we have to accommodate (at whatever level they expect) or lose to the vagueries.

I am really hoping for;

a KPD from (in order) - Donaldson, Tighe, Luff, Hartigan, Dare, Grimes

and a tall forward - Panos / Temel.

Think we have ample mids so dont want another of those.

PS - is it just me or is anyone else struggling with why we would commit to an US 24yo to play ruck before we have seen the other ruck prospects in the draft pool.

Brendan Fewster from the Cannons would be a far better go in my opinion than Shae. Its nothing against Shae but defies logic for me.
