Sellar, Walker & Jericho

Didn't he also mention McGregor??

They'll have to wheel him out there. Just park him at CHB. Kenny "Roadblock" McGregor.

Or stick him in the forward pocket, where he can take up his usual "Decoy" role.

I think there's a high chance that K-mac will get delisted at the end of the year, there would be no point in playing him. He hasn't shown anything this year at all.

I hope we take some risks and play some of these younger guys, but it seems Neil Craig's always taken the safer approach on and off the field :(

see Jericho for an example of what people think of 5 goals and no second efforts.

Jericho doesnt kick goals week in week out. If he did kick 4 goals each week, believe me we would all forgive his defiencies, as we would have a 80 plus goal kicker.

yeah but he isn't going to be doing that at AFL level so the "new forward" tag will ear off pretty quickly as it has done with Tippet.

Excuse a Bombers fan for posting on your club board, but I've followed Walker closely since I was highly impressed with his TAC efforts. I've seen a couple of his SANFL games, and highlights of his play on Norwood's site and seriously cannot understand this kid not getting a game yet.

Adelaide has a lack of true, natural key forwards - the best they have are either long term injured or just got injured, in Hentschel's case both... and I guess now Birdman's. The forwards they have also been playing have been criticised (by coaching staff, the leader group players, the press, supporters and public) for goal kicking inaccuracy.

So help me understand why they are leaving a guy out of the side who is a true, natural KPF, is showing the best forward form of any Crow in the SANFL, and is very accurate at goal, dobbing plenty from outside 50m. The stats I have on him say he's now kicked 33.16 in 10 senior SANFL matches - just under 5 shots at goal per game and 67% accuracy (that's including the 5.0 yesterday). I think he'll be 6th in the SANFL goal kicking despite playing his first 3 games in the reserves in his debut season!

Walker's also featured in the votes 6 of his 10 games including 4 of his last 5. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think that would make him the highest performing Crow (by club votes) in the SANFL in the last 5 weeks regardless of position. Certainly better form shown in the SANFL than Gill, McGregor, Jericho, Sellar or others mentioned in this thread. Even better than Hentschel showed before his hammy last week, although I'd love to see Trent return asap too.

What more should a kid have to do to break into the side that desperately needs what he is showing?

Just as importantly Reilly, van berlo, shirley and doughty must go and try to be traded off at end of the year. The 3 that played yerterday tried hard but all 4 of them have had too many chances. Granted the stats will show van berlo and doughty have been up there most of the year but it may mean bargaining power for the crows.

Getting Schammer for van berlo and monfries for reilly would suit me fine. The other 2 may be more difficult to unload. Mattner and Welsh have gone. Any chance of coming back

I wonder why Jericho wont be picked again:confused: this week?

Earlier on this year before things went pear shaped I said that I would be happy for Tex to play out the year at Norwood, but now as we are struggling up forward Walker must come in now I know he will not dominate, but just as Travis Boak showed last year that SANFL performances have to be rewarded and each week Tex seems to kick quite a few goals.

He might not be ready, but I think the side needs him at the moment.

Perfectly put.

Fremantle would jump at that so fast they'd get a year long nose bleed.

As for Monfries, well I like some of the stuff he's done lately, but for Reilly, I'm not sure about that, some swapping of draft picks as well would be needed in the Crows favour.

As for those wanting McGregor delisted, (which I'd agree with) you need to remember that the 2nd year of his contract would have to be paid out, plus included in the 2009 salary cap figures.

I'm glad you ripped into him Asgardian because I really don't like pointing out stupid posts from other crows supportes.

Trade VB for SHAMMER ....WTF, Reilly for Monfries.....NO and last of all, Kepp McGregor.....i'd gladly buy out his contract to offer andother draft pick a go.

Sellar finally goes into the reserves...dominates and gets second best for Glenelg.

Give him some game time in Leagues Mickan or leave him in the reserves!

I agree. Its very hard to judge Sellar when he is playing only 10 minutes per Quarter in the league team and the rest of the time getting cold on the bench. I would rather see Sellar play full games in the reserves and especially in the Centre half forward or Full Forward region. Personally i would like to see Sellar go to another SANFL league side as well but I dont think this will happen. If the current forward players for Glenelg stay there next year I just dont see the point in Sellar staying there coz he wont get a game in front of them.

Sellar is only 19 and I dont think we should judge him for at least another 2 years. If you look at Griffin and Maric both of these players have taken four years to really fully break into the Crows side. Maric looks like he is going to be a good ruckman for us but personally i think Griffin is a very average player (Very overated on this board). Also players like Bock and Hentschel took there time to develop but they were definately worth waiting for.

How are the other key position players going from the 2006 draft from the other clubs? Gumbleton,Hansen etc

Griffin's form up to and including R8 was exceptional. In R6 (vs Carlton) he had 35 hitouts and 13 disposals. In R7 (vs North Melbourne) he had 34 hitouts and 14 disposals.

How quickly people forget...

Right now, Griffin appears to be suffering from a number of things. He's probably still carrying the hip injury, for which he was previously omitted. He's physically worn out, having carried the ruck almost alone (Tippett providing part-time support) for the first half of the season. We all know he's something of a stick insect, who badly needs to spend some time in the gym, making love to the weights whilst chowing down on the protein shakes/bars.

I believe we have a great young pair of ruckmen in Maric & Griffin. Both are very different from each other, which is good because they have contrasting styles which complement each other. Given time and injury free bodies, I think both will be VERY good AFL players.

He has no idea how to take a mark and his positioning around the ground is terrible. Sure hes not bad at the ruck taps and his skills are good but that it. He just doesnt know how to find the football. Two years in a row he has burnt out. I want a ruckman that really has a go and is not afraid to get his hands dirty and I just think Morans versatility would be more valuable than Griffin.

:thumbsu: It's time for Bob

I hope we dson't bring Sellar in for the Port game, and especially Walker. As much as it pains me to say it, I would bring in one of the "The Decoys" for this game. Not much point risking a young talent against the sniping dogs.

None of this is ideal for Walker or Sellar to come into, but there are two fears I have from Adelaide, firstly that next year they will debut, play non-stop like Griffin and Tippett and be stuffed half way through, why not play them for some of the games in the later half of the year when we have no chance of even getting to the semis.

Secondly, my bet is that Adelaide will play one of these guys as the lone forward with no decoys and will get smashed. If you have Tippett, Walker and Jericho in deep forward then Walker will be blanketed somewhat. Sellar at CHF and Tippett moving up to that line as well. A few game snow towards the end of the season cannot hurt surely

Walker needs time, but I don't really see any option. Jericho's a hack, but I don't really see any option. Bring them both in. McGregor is a bag of dirt. Sellar is suffering amnesia. We need some forward targets this week. Its a risk, but it could pay of long and short term big time.

You have a drug problem.

Its time !!!!!!!

I think with the unfortunate injuries to Burton and Porps and consistent performances by Taylor Walker in the SANFL, I believe this is the time to give the lad a go.

Thoughts ?

Re: Its time !!!!!!!

As much as i would love to see it, hes not ready and i doubt it will happen.

He does seem like the type to step up on the big occasion though doesnt he.

Re: Its time !!!!!!!

SpringChoke and Betterthanu, what is the danger of playing the guy now?? His confidence is up and its a Port game so it will be pretty fast and hard.

The season is shot in the sense of achieving anything substantial in the finals, so why not start playing a few of these guys now. I would hate to see the club play them from the start of next year as they will burn out ala Mackay and Griffin

Re: Its time !!!!!!!

What is all this not ready crap. What do you have to do to be classified as being ready? Does he have to go through some sort of initiation process.

He should be no different to anyone else on the list. A position opens up in the Crows side for whatever reason, then you look at suitable replacements who are performing well at the SANFL. It is an absolute no brainer.

Even if he plays and gets exposed, then as Craigy would say "It is a valuable learning experience"

Playing undersized kids in key positions at a young age runs the risk of long term injuries. Thats my only worry.
