i wonder what the figures were in 1980. I bet we were up the top
Teams boost supporterbases in times of dominance.

Collingwood in the 1920's and 1930's.

Melbourne in the 1950's-they've lost it well and truly.

Richmond in the 1970's.

Hawthorn in the 1980's.

Brisbane in the 2000's.

If you dominant a decade like these 5 teams have your supporterbase is always going to grow

IIRC, in 1980 we became the first club to get a million spectators through the gates in a season.

Madtiger - this might provide a rough estimate

See table at the bottom. There is obviously going to be a fairly large margin for error, but not enough to put us anywhere near collingwood.
Some other peculiar stats from that site:
Richmond Tigers supporters are:
• 30% more likely to live in a young parents household

• 20% more likely to love to do as many sports as possible

• 27% more likely to enter competitions which are on packets or labels on products

• 18% more likely to choose a car mainly on its looks

• 27% more likely to feel comfortable giving their credit card details over the Internet

• 15% more likely to be worried about the health risks of a mobile

• 13% more likely to have played a game of pool/snooker/billiards in the last three months

• 18% more likely to have eaten food from a fish and chip shop in the last four weeks

Crumden, I think that was in 1974.

Richmond attendances:

1974 - 847,346

1980 - 1,064,322

Tickets Availability for this game MCG have are only letting people book for some of level 1 and Level 4. Walk up Match so nothing like Stkilda vs Richmond you will be able to scan in on the day and go to the g/a area in the Southern Stand or the New stand....

Cheers

foxtel should stop showing live games in melbourne. They should show live interstate or delayed melbourne games

But make other arrangemenst for Tassie. We get grouped in with Victoria rather than treated like a seperate Sate so if that were the case, we'd see nothing live. God, I'd have to get a life!

Stupid Remark yet again.... Fox footy should show Live games Against the Gate in Melbourne. I am sick to death of replays, Live games are the way to go. I might not be home to watch any of the games as i am at the grounds. I would be lost with out Foxfooty.

Nah. Foxfooty should not show live games in the city of where the game is played, but should show the game live outside the city for people who live too far away to make it worth going to the game. For instance, if Richmond v Carlton is the only game on Saturday afternoon, then the game should be delayed on televison by 1 hour in Melbourne and live interstate. If you're not interested in going to the game or you are too busy that afternoon, then why should you be so keen to watch the match live instead of an hour delayed? If people are undecided whether to go to a game, they will sway in favour of not going if it's live on tv, but they would sway in favour of going if it's delayed on tv. If there was an interstate game on at the same time, then that game should be shown live first because people have an excuse not to go to the game interstate. I say get off your ass and go to the match ;)
