How is the season over when one other team has done it before??

Surely even for a Geelong fan you're not that stupid ;)

Go have a look at the WCE board. Some of them are applauding Selwood for that gem. Selwood is scum. Any person who is a parent here would certainly not appreciate that being said about there daughter. I have two daughters and I wouldnt be impressed either to say the least. Sledging has been part of the game, as in most codes of sport, but there some areas you dont go......

Get over it mate! Whats wrong with people who cares if he called his daughter a ****, Des is just a headcase. What Des did is worse than what Adam said to him.

Think of the message this is sending to our kids. If someone makes a remark that you find offensive its ok for you to hit them in the head and give them death threats!

Grow up Des a true man would of turned the other cheek!

Oooooookkkkkkkk..

I ****ed your daughter and she's a ****...allegedly.

Actually there is the defence of provocation for things like this. If someone insults a family member and you punch them in the head you can claim provocation as a defence.

This has been around for hundreds of years. It is not alright to insult family members. That is the bigger message for the kids. If you insult someone and get smacked in the head then don't go crying to mummy because even the courts won't side with you on that one.

Umm, Tazmania, hopefully you aren't a lawyer, because I doubt many judges would agree with you. Yes provocation is a defence, but a fairly weak one, and more one to decrease the sentence, rather than get you off.

If the comments were as claimed, then I'd see Selwood's first comment as "allowable slegding"... but if he went on with it after being told it was a tattoo of a 6 year old girl... then he really needs a serious penalty.

"Strength on and off the field" or "Mindless, antisocial, out of touch with all humanity on and off the field - but we can play footy well so it doesn't matter"?

The smart response is to report it immediately to an umpire, and then to let Selwood know that you will be making a racial vilification complaint and it will cost him $20,000. Selwood would be in his head for the rest of the game.

This would get Selwood, and your cause, all over the paper for a week, instead of inflicting a few bruises, and getting yourself suspended.

I don't blame Dessie for what he did.

I agree. Probably the wisest way of going about it. With offensive remarks like what Selwood allegedly said fight using the brain and not the fists .
