I’m done with this station.
Flogs like Corn / Edmonds putting nothing out except negativity.
Trade radio rumours already started.
It’s just rinse and repeat every year.
Does anybody know of any podcasts or underground media worth tapping into?

Does it matter?
He’s paid to draw in viewers.
His opinions don’t shift world politics

If Kane says we’ll finish 1st or 18th has no impact upon whether we finish 1st or 18th
If Kane says player X/Y/Z will leave at the end of the year makes no difference to whether they do or not

Things always change throughout the year and he can say what he wants

I actually don't mind him. One of the few who has an opinion on the media although he's opinions are becoming more and more obvious on each topic.

His Collingwood criticism is more hope then believe with him. He's change of "selling the farm " for Houston is funny considering the sheer disappointment of what we actually paid for him at the time.

I like him. He's prepared to say it as he sees it. I have also always liked Caro. I don't agree with everything they say, but they both stand out as hard workers prepared to call the shots. Better than most of the beige commentary and puerile comedy masked as entertainment. You know what I mean.

Yeah I found this the funniest, he was filthy that we did such a 'dirty' deal on Port not giving them so much more and then at the end of last year he is virtually saying that getting us this 'dud' has really hurt us. We knew at the time we had paid a decent price for him.

He's an antagonist and that's the persona he has built he's media career on, loves to stir up certain supporter bases, clearly loves aiming at us, like him or hate him.

I dunno, whenever I get the sense someone is trying to play me I just don't engage. Immediately takes away their power.

Clearly, like many others, he's using our club to engagement farm and further his career. Why bother listening and playing into his shit?

He's of no consequence to anything.

Because he knows being Negative to Collingwood makes the most money

The best corn is from South America!
True but I love different SA named country/Saffer dish. Love some pap myself, better than polenta for me.

Especially if you're cutting back on the potato carbs.

Managed to avoid him all last year and no reason to not continue . Turned SEN off when he was on, watched games on Kayo instead of Seven, didn’t read any of his articles.

Even then it’s still too much.

I believe he pretty much wrote us off last year yet we were only a kick or two away from a grand final

I have a family who is "on" SEN - he has been told by Hutchy to go hard and be controversial (no surprise), also fair to say he isn't liked by many there given him holding out for more money

He also has a hard on for the Dogs and desperate to be proven right "best list in the AFL" crap he keeps peddling

On your last point - sadly as a code we seem to lack high quality independent content creators, granted it's unfair on AFL to compare it to the size of soccer, NBA/NFL and cricket and the volume of content creators (both independent and commercial) they have creating avenues for fans. We have a lot of "supercoach/fantasy" relevant content, but in terms of good, non-biased and consistent analysis and reporting of the weekends results or storylines, we just don't have the independent market and you're forced to listen to the likes of a Damian Barret or Andy Maher pedaling out their oft-biased, sensationalized jargon.

High quality, independent content creators are important as it keeps those larger media outlets honest and forces them to maintain quality, not push narratives nor produce "half-arsed" fan content. Without it we end up with these bog-average options, regurgitating the same narrative and nonsense that gets their clicks on other outlets.

Of some of the pods out there - pending who is on the show, I don't mind the FoxFooty podcast (yes am aware that Fox is far from independent), while "Footy and Friends" is more of an entertainment/comedy target approach, though good for a laugh and a more relaxed take on the weeks AFL storylines. As an alternative listen or a "one off" I didn't mind the ZeroHanger production of "AFL Team Builders" which took an in-depth look in to the creation and set up of the interstate teams.

Similar to you - I'd love to get other peoples suggestions on "off broadway" suggestions that are worthwhile tuning in to! Maybe these creators are out there - we just need to get them better promoted?

Sounds like there's a real opportunity out there for some content creators to get real and make a name for themselves. For far too long we've had these shock jock "reporters" out there doorstepping AFL folk or chasing the "scan" operators for juicy info. They claim to be following in the footsteps of Lou, Jack and Bob.....but they're so far from the comedy stuff that made those old gentlemen true entertainers that they're basically TROLLS operating from a media landscape. Kaneo isn't funny, he's a blunt instrument....a tagger on and off the field, never good enough to make the play himself. He requires gossip (like Caro did) to fuel his commentary and his vendetta's are so blatant that his victims must smile every time he attempts new material.

We were once blessed with the likes of Alf Brown, Ron Casey, Patrick Smith and Stephen Phillips. Even Scot Palmer and Mike Sheahan were respected for their knowledge. However since the last true football caller (Dennis Commetti) retired we've been plastered with incompetents who revert too quickly to the easiest way to make a $$$ (gutter rumours and inuendo) that "entertain" the masses.

There are enough Trolls on the internet (and certainly on BF) without having to be subjected to them on supposed "reporting" media. If you can't find or create enough interest in the sport itself and need to constantly fall back on the lowest common denominator then perhaps journalism isn't for you. Cornes and his ilk are demonstrating society's lack of discrimination and it's preponderance to accept mediocre (or less) where once they had exceptional.
