That stuns me if true. He's the most respected voice in sport on the national broadcaster. And working 9-12 every day, then doing AFL 360 at night isn't going to result in him seeing more of his kids than he does now with the cricket.
It's confirmed on the sen website. It is a massive coup for the station.

Considering how much money they have saves by bringing back maher and having kb and turf on the drive show, they were able to throw all their money at Whately

Him doing the 9-12 sounds more of a fit than Caro. If he's the main footy caller. What happens with Hudson and Granland? Huddo is big enough of a name, that it's no big deal. But I hope it doesn't mean Matty G is getting the arse?
Huddo and Wheatley will be calling Friday Nights, so Gerard replaces Matty Grandland for the main slots it seems.

According to NSWCROWs post in the other thread. I'm interested to see how he'll fill in 15 hours? Particularly, what kind of attention will sports he doesn't, but still require attention, like get?

Now what happens with Finey. For mine, Finey should continue on, as he has made that slot.

It's simply amazing. I wonder who'll replace him on the ABC
It's going to be wildly unpopular with the bogan set, but I would strongly suspect that Kelli Underwood is going to get a lot of his work on the footy and offsiders.

Who knows with the cricket. They had a bit of a revolving door last summer with Maxwell on sick leave, and none of them impressed me that much.

Andy Maher returns to the station for the 12pm-3pm lunchtime slot — replacing Francis Leach — while a new line-up for the 6pm-8pm slot will be revealed in coming weeks.

Gerard Healy & Dwayne Russell from 3aw to Sen to do 6-8pm Sports day surely now ?

Finey 8-12pm

3aw will just increase the "money" program from Sydney to a 2 hour show that Melb doesn't get

I'm a rusted on 3AW listener but losing Healy and Russell won't hurt in the slightest.

You are so highly critical of ‘bogans’. What about equality? There is nothings wrong with their view of the world, it’s just different from yours. Gerard must be a ‘bogan’ to even talk to Robbo or appear on SEN.

Do you ever listen to SEN?

How many times do people want to hear the same opinionated wankers who don't know what they're talking about? I don't, which is why it only gets listened to for quick trips in the car now.

Andy Maher at Midday was terrible last time, constantly trying to lift profiles of obscure sports I couldn't give a shit about like Women's Basketball. Ugh.

Loved KB's morning show so gonna miss that, damn. Afternoons I don't listen as much.

Whatelys excellent so hopefully he does good, not gonna be as entertaining tho. That 9-10 slot every morning needs to be AFL every day almost without fail, like KB did.

Just pointing out the irony in your posts... and you delivered again.
I love KB, I switch to 774 to hear Gerard at 10:00am every Monday morning, and reckon Gerard is the best sports commentator in the Country. I listened to Ox and Marko occasionally on the way home but had had my share of blokey humour in the smoko sheds at work by then. But we are all different and need different views. I don’t have Foxtel so I haven’t seen Gerard and Robbo together, but I get why that works.

Just to be clear - my problem isn't with the presenters. They're on at the same time every day, so you can easily ignore them. I've done it with KB for years.

My problem is with the callers. In an age of twitter, facebook etc, I don't understand the need for talkback. The idiot public will never boost the status of a radio station - they can only lower it. And this is especially the case on a station that is deliberately a low-brow footy station for 90% of the time. As we heard through the Essendon saga, on the occasion that you do get an insightful, well spoken caller, he (or she) will quickly be shouted down by a bevy of idiots.

I can already imagine how this is going to play out with Whateley. They bring him in because he's an articulate, intelligent speaker, and it will hopefully lift the tone of the station (from what the trolls like Bartlett and Fine have created). But because of what SEN is, and what I suspect it wants to be, he will still be encouraged to give the peanut gallery a right of reply, and his attempts to lift the tone of the station will fail as a result.

Essendon is only one example. I can also imagine him on the radio dealing with issues like Heather Mouncey, or Eddie + "king kong" - if anything, I can foreshadow the tone of talkback getting worse if they're going to insist on keeping talkback, because Whateley has what some view as "lefty" views on social issues, and it's only going to incite more idiots to call up and have their say, regardless of whether they know what they're talking about, or whether they have an opinion that is worth being heard.

I’ve never thought Whateley has necessarily pushed his ‘lefty’ views. He is an articulate journalist. If he did he wouldn’t last too long. Eg Francis Leech. Just the same if someone pushed their ‘right wing’ views, they wouldn’t last too long either. That’s why we love SEN, to get away from self righteous political crap from either side.

You are such a snob. Why do you tune in at all if it is beneath you to listen to a low-brow footy station and the idiot public from the peanut gallery?

Go to 3AW, Neil Mitchell, Dennis Walter, Tom Elliott or Phillip Brady would be more to your liking I think..
