Send-off rule in the AFL

Absolutely not. The umpires can't be trusted to get their decisions right at the moment, and people want to give them power to decide games?

Because that's effectively what sending someone off will do (unless it's already near the end of the match).

From memory, most competitions OTHER than the AFL (ie state leagues) do have a send off rule - though I've never seen it used.

Should it be in the AFL? I don't think its necessary TBH, BUT if it was introduced the criteria around sending someone off would have to be strictly controlled; something like assaulting an umpire or supporter, endangering the lives of people etc.
