If we do bloody brilliant but I just feel those losses to Brisbane and Carlton in rd 3 will cost us.
Of course they have and they will whether we make finals or not ultimately. But I don't know why you'd be talking in the past tense about wanting to make finals as if the possibility would be gone, because it ain't yet. :p

While still a chance, unfortunately we now need to rely on other games going our way to get there.

Go Saints!

I don't think it took them 7 years they changed it all round 1 pre season if they can do it so can we imo.
Damien was the biggest problem there... he did not identify his team's strengths and play to them, he was a follower surrounded by followers trying to replicate Clarkson.

John's already identified our strengths and has built a game plan on taking advantage of them, I reckon we've come just as far from where we were as Richmond have. This is Richmond with a marquee midfield signing and Josh Caddy joining.

We will add some similar quality this offseason. Hopefully Kennedy and Webb, they're my top 2 inside options for us.

Trust Woosha B4L he's a beauty. He knows what he's building, the players know, we'll reap the rewards for a lot longer than Richmond with the young talent we have growing together.

Over all OK with woosha but nothing brilliant as a coach too slow to make moves, gets out coached and outfoxed by smarter coaches, eg bevo 2 weeks ago , dumb coaching leaving out bags and Hartley who were in good form v the best fwd 6 in the AFL clearly we were monstered in the back half marks inside 50 huge differential the crows way as McGovern, TeX, Jenkins , Lynch monstered us , we are carrying too many passengers at present, not getting much out of myers, jobe, howlett, laverde, Goddard turnover king, Kelly should retire , bring back hocking ffs

If bags was in, do you think he would of held Betts to 0 goals and got 25 touches himself? I'm more than happy with that call to keep him out.

Woosh has had a compromised list. He tried hard to sure out a weakness for us last year (midfield, tried to get jaegar). I've no doubt we will be pushing hard to bridge that gap this offseason, plus we'll have a few blokes making way (hocking, watson, stanton, howlett, jmerrett).

I personally will be judging Woosh on how this offseason goes. My main qualm this year would be the lack of young talent played, and the seemingly miss management of some of our young blokes. The position we are in right now, we can't afford to blood begly, mutch, ridley ect even though they probably could have a go in the seniors.

All in all... we've changed our game style for the better and I think we worry teams, even the best ones. We just need to continue to build what we have.

Need to target ready made young talent via the trade/FA period. Don't think we can rely on developing talent via the draft by the time those players come good blokes like Heppel,Hurley etc will be towards of the end of their careers.

I'm usually one that views it as a difficult task to rate a coach without being in the know, but dropping Hartley for Dea was a concern pre-game - a concern that proved to be justified. He does seem to have his favourites.

Colyer surely must be dropped this week

If my calculations are correct we would be sitting 5th right now with 2 games to go.

Oh well hopefully the team learns that they cant drop games to lower ranked side anymore.
In time. I'm confident we'll start to see our best footy more consistently over the next few years.

The midfield hasn't played a lot of footy together which is where our inconsistency is coming from. Hopefully they keep working on that in the off season & add a few pieces. The more games they can play together the better they'll get.

Brisbane and Sydney games were not the only two missed opportunities this year, yes we should be securely in the eight, fact is we're not.
Maybe through inexperience, bad coaching, don't handle pressure, mental weakness, whatever the reason, we are at where we're at.
IMO the season has been a success and finals would be great but if we don't learn, improve and play finals next season, I would think Wooshas job would be on the line. At present we're on the right track and finals are still a chance.

Imagine if we still had him as coach we would be the best offensive team in the comp right now haha but unfortunately he didn't value the defensive part of the game.
To say he didn't value defence is an overstatement. Knights clearly valued rebound defenders. The attack mantra was put onto Spike, Pears, Atkinson, Houli. We drafted Hurley and Hooker as key defenders and both eventually became AA backmen. Knights didn't have time to see his vision come to fruition.

Gets a tick for Hurley and Hooker but his philosophy was "having the best attack is the best form of defense" which I didn't really agreed with.

There was a period (might have been his final year) where teams were getting 5-6 goal runs with him doing nothing about in the coaches box. correct me if I'm wrong but the Essendon board wasn't happy with this so they asked Knights to do something about it but he basically told him "it's my way or the high way"
