The best races in the world are in Europe when it comes to 1600m+ racing.

Sure and they are worth less than the money here so if you owned a horse that could win the Cox Plate and Queen Elizabeth here you are better off doing that than trying to win the Arc which puts the horse out of the autumn and spring here.

If Asfoora was an Everest chance it wouldn't be racing in France, that is for sure.

Yeah it's great to see her do so well, a big training effort and great placement. But it's a much easier call to make when she'd be going around double figures in the major sprints here as opposed to Winx being a near certainty every start she had.

Yep. Winx was protected. Wasn't raced outside her comfort zone - didnt travel. Raced in a weak era of 1600m+ racing in Australia. Currently and the past decade to 12 years racing at 1600m+ in Australia hasn't been strong...the depth is poor.

Don't let the big prize money fool you either. Its well known all around the world racing circuit (of which Australian racing is part of it) that the depth in Australia is very shallow. Australian racing is a speed nation. The breeding is set up for it and the racing is set up for it.

I don't think anyone would argue she faced the world's best down here, but if I'm the trainer or owner I'm making the same decision they did and she was never racing anywhere else but here. It's a shame we never got to see exactly where she fit but she would've been competitive in any race overseas if they did travel, but why would you when you're making a fortune winning the WFA championships here and setting records that may never be broken.

On the flip side if I owned one and had the money to fund it I'd do the exact same thing they have with Asfoora. A hell of a lot more fun picking up european group 1's than running 8th in an Everest or TJ.

This is a completely dumb arguement and why racing is cast. There is so many money options that the best avoid each other and we just have crap racing. Might and Power might have 4 runners. Its shit racing to watch too.

I mean she was running in the Cox Plate in the Spring and QE in the autumn each year, not exactly sure which race she was dodging here.

You referring to Winx? She dodged the very best horses in the world at 1600m+ and they are in Europe....not in Australia.

Yes but the point was if it's your horse why do you want to pay thousands of dollars to run for loose change in harder races when you can stay here and pick up millions as a raging hot favourite in every race
But if you are a horse racing lover whats the point of watching horses dominate lower class racing at 1.20 prices instead of racing the best. Its not totally the owner/trainers fault, its the racing industry destroying the quality of racing because of massive selfish egos

And in a way....world horse racing is a global sport but it isnt.
