Magpies will be very strong - were round the mark all last year and there 'ins' far outweights their 'outs'. What was the score?
Don't know why the call the coast north of brisbane sunshine. All it does is rain. Saw last years premiers yesterday and they were far too good for Maroochy in the first quarter. After quarter time the game was level. Conditions were atrocious.
Not sure how many each side was missing. Brewster didn't play for Noosa but is definately playing apparently.
Magpies pumped palmy in ordinary conditions. Missing a couple of players they were absolutley thrashed by a hard running Maggies. Jimmy Rozinski hasnt missed a beat and Corrie looked good. Will be a solid week on the track. Will have to improve significantly just to be top 5. Maggies look the goods.
any surprises from the weekends games or was it simply a case of all clubs sending out teams of blokes who have trained the most to see how they go? PBC getting pumped was a surprise to me but heard they were missing a few. any of the newcommers look like changing the comp or same blokes different year doing all the work????
Damo,
Didnt Aspley play Southport on the weekend? Assuming I am correct which Aspley side did Sandgate struggle against? Short of only playing an under 20's, would ring alarm bells in the ears of Long!
that was the week before. it was still a young side
It was the Aspley Reserve Grade side with a few top side guys thrown in that were a little low on game time.Hawks terrible first half. Not sure how many out etc, but seemed like different side to last year. Aspley were terrific in first half, some pretty handy players running around who played senior footy at NEAFL level last year (Travis Johnstone, James Linton, Bevan one of the Bucavaz's played to I think, plus a half dozen others from who I saw). I think Sandgate won second half and finished off OK, interesting to see how they go against a side form same comp this week. Was first hit out so maybe hold judgement? Someone told me there were 10 ex Sandgate guys playing for Aspley!
Be very careful paying overs for this sort of bloke mate - plenty of blokes around who are and always will be far better players than coaches. Have a look at some of the careers those blokes who you interviewed the year Brett got the coaching gig and tell me they have kicked arse anywhere else?
Have a close look at Dan Christian and then tell me have you ever seen him and Brett in the same room together??![]()
Big comment, you know whats happening at the club, Strong comment for some person that has nothing to do with the club.Well hopefully the Panthers can get their act together - gee they need some good footy heads down there desperately IMO.

Can't comment on the sunny coast but all praccy mTches have been canned this weekend! Wtf, why on earth would they cancel the day before only to see balmy sunny conditions for the rest of the day. And I am on speaking of Brisbane and goldy conditions. If this where the case is vic I would have played a total of 50 games over 15 years. Am I being precious or is this the worst decision we have seen in a long time?
Has got everyone baffled Kwhit! Unbelievable.
Its baffling enough that they start the season 3 weeks after every other comp, and schedule practise matches that officially finish two weeks before rd 1. Its baffling that they call off games at 9am on a Friday, before giving it a chance to fine up, which it does. Would of been a slow track at most grounds, but surely playable on most. And any totally ruined surely could of been moved to the other sides ground? What the hell are they thinking?
track fast weather fine.... did the league talk to the host venues before making the call?Whilst improving each year, sadly qld Footy is still the laughing stock to other states. I in a very long time being involved with varies clubs have I seen games practice or not being cancelled 30 hours previous to a scheduled game. Don't get me wrong I am not upset to see the back of vic weather, but we really need to look at some of the decisions being made. Not sure what it looks like out your window, but I would be extremely embarrassed to explain to someone a round has been called off due to inclement weather and the chance it would damage our fields! Dubai anyone?
