This is a cripple fight of epic proportions

Is there a “nuffies of political pages” Facebook page we can submit this to?

How's this for an effort? (Local footy players in Tas by the way)

Were they actually mocking williams and allir or is the outrage brigade running low on topics to.whinge about?

So FireKraquora now understands 1) that reproducing racial caricatures from the past can be problematic. He outlined as much when discussing blackface.

He also now understands that 2) there is such a thing as coded racism. He described it vis-a-vis people throwing bananas at black footballers.

These premises are central to the criticism of the Herald-Sun cartoon. FireKraquora now understands these premises and accepts that they are real concerns. As demonstrated above. That's progress.

Of course, it raises the question of where that leaves his argument on the cartoon itself.

I look forward to his panicked response: "Nah, nah ... that's not in it ... strawman, strawman ... SJWs something something".

Have you ever thrown a banana at a black person?

HOW did this get 37 pages!

HOW!
It took that long to explain to peanuts why it was problematic.

These people would disintegrate under real pressure.
Don't pretend you didn't get your arse handed to you last time you poked your head out of your burrow, little snakey.

Didn't you have to retreat into a "safe space"?

Don't pretend you're confident. We both know you're not. You're a pretender. And a particularly unskilled one.

You're the kind of guy who bullshits to pretend he knows more than he does. Then changes his story when he realises he got it wrong. Then refuses to acknowledge the contradiction. That's you, little snakey. Don't kid yourself.

Ha ha, this is gold.

Well at least the ignorant (it's part of their defence "how were we to know that portraying an African-American in a way that echoes historic racist tropes directed at African-Americans would be racist") defenders of the cartoon aren't bothering to pretend they have an argument, ad hominem attacks against SJ is the best they've got now.

'White people lecturing black people about racism' should be the title of the thread

Society is doomed once the "offended", no matter how trivial, get to set the bar.

Offtopic; but while irrelevant to this thread the idea that people somehow get an in-depth understanding of the economic/historical/political factors of their situation simply by existing is silly. Yes, it's better than your average spud from outside the group, but the trend towards invalidating any opinion from outside the group (even from academia) is anti-intellectual.

No worries, if you want to give me an example of an intellectual or academic argument for how the cartoon is fine I'm all ears.
