Draft Profile Serhat Temel

Worth the punt with a second/third rounder I reckon, going by what i've seen of him. You never know he could be a diamond in the rough, Fev went at pick 38

I had him going mid fourth round in my phantom draft, but his finals series could push him up a late third rounder. Personally, I wouldn't be going any higher than that though.

He strikes me as one player who is bigger than the majority of his opponents, so his strong marking style makes him look a lot further developed than he really is. Put him against bigger body defenders, and his limitations will be shown up.

I think he'll round out the top 50, but he will still require a lot of development and time to be put into him.

at the top level i get the feeling he will struggle, if he doesnt mark it and the ball hits the ground he doesnt offer anything

A lot will depend on DC. If he can show somewhat decent agility and sprint times, he'll move up in the calculations. There's no doubt he can mark and play as a forward, but as others have said, he's not athletic enough, and whilst being big and strong at u18 may be ok, you won't be able to readily bully opponents in the AFL.

Looks god in the TAC Cup, but the reliance on his marking is far to big for him to be taken early in the draft. Once the ball hits the turf, he virtually has no impace. EG Brad Fisher. If he would dominate oppontents like he does in the AFL, then he would be a great player, but against bigger bodies he wouldnt. To be honest i just cant see the hype that surrounds him, and if i was a recruiter, i wouldnt take him in the first 2 rounds.

Myles Pitt on the other hand looks a likely type. perhaps a little bit to small to play KPF in the AFL.

I'm pretty sure (not 100%) that the only reason that Fev drifted so far down the pecking order was because clubs knew that he was a nutter.

I did not see too much to get excited about. Seemed to take some fairly easy marks and his opponent did not look a great match up to me. Looked a little slow and had the athleticism of a tree trunk. Stands out in under 18s footy but with bigger quicker opponents in the big league I think he may struggle. I could be wrong but at best I reckon he might be a very late pick up or rookie listed. It would not suprise me if he did not get drafted.

Not a bad trick if he can take that to AFL level. What more would he need? It works for Fevola, worked for Lloyd, Lockett, Dunstall etcetera etcetera...
I'm not saying that is a bad thing, but that's pretty much all he can do.
He lacks leg speed which means he isn't to good a ground level.

I am very impressed with young Temel. He obviously has a great pair of hands and his kicking is good.

I believe we will see a change in the next couple of years where big bodied young key position players will be looked upon as a big plus.

There is so much hit and miss with the skinny key position players and it takes at least 3 or 4 years to get their body to a required shape to hold down a key position.

With a big bodied player you can work straight away on his fitness and diet, basically having him ready to play within the first 12 months. If he gets to the Bulldogs first pick I would take him in a minute.

I think you'll find he will be available at your first selection but I can guarantee you that you will not take him. Slightly overrated by some on these boards.

Most likely to go between pick 45-60 I would presume. looked promising over the finals series of the TAC cup, but I just don't think he has what it takes to make it at the top level

Will definately get drafted.... chance in the second round but more likely the third round. Will develop into a pretty solid forward.

Saw him on the TAC cup future stars... a very well spoken kid.

Re: Tell me about Temel

Temel will get drafted at pick 11 to Melbourne.

Hopefully!!!

At the games i have watched of him he has been very impressive below his knees.

He is quite agile IMO and has a quick turning circle and brings his team mates into the game also.

He is a great contested mark and has very good reaction time for a fellow of his size.

To his credit he has kicked 53 goals 20 behinds, all without a solid pre-season. (He started pre-season training in late January).

His kicking and set shots for goal are elite IMO.

He is by far the best contested mark of the draft.

Once he gets into an AFL club, he will trim his body fat, gain strength and power and he will develop into a dominant power forward.

I rate him equally to Talia, just ahead of Carlisle and well ahead of Butcher.

He will be the perfect partner to Jack Watts and Liam Jurrah as that tall key power forward.

I can't wait til we read out his name on draft day and give him the number 9 jumper.

There is no way he will last til the 2nd round.

Watched this guy in the TAC CUP GF big, mobile, great hands, good kick, any thoughts on where he might go? draft, rookie?

Not too sure about this one, although he did catch my eye. Could develop into a star.
