little wins,

was cleaning out our store room last weekend and threw a bit of ewaste in the dedicated ewaste skip and somthing in the skip catches my eye.

a panasonic toughpad out of support period!

thought i would take a punt on at very least there being a stick of ram or a sdd i could use. looks again and theres a dock for it!

anyway long story short turns out its a goer, had the locked down corporate image on it but 20 mins later and its running a fully fledged install of linux mint.

only had a pretty small 128g ssd so i figured may as well pop a bigger drive in it, find a nice 256g orico ssd on amazon for 39 bucks, pull the trigger waiting to be hit with postage then pops up the little try prime for free for 28 days for free shipping and 5 bucks off! whoo hoo, accept, place order then immediately cancel prime at the end of the current billing period for free!

so in summary i nice little road warrior for 34 bucks...and still have a spare 128g drive.

happy days, better deal than the old education revolution i3 lenovo i i use that i picked up on buy and sell for 50 bucks!


oh and yes iam a tight ass when it comes to tech...

captured my first image of Saturn tonight, damn hard work manually tracking, focusing and adjusting the gain, literally have about 3 seconds before it flies out of frame. so much brighter and bigger in the 10" dobsonian ( outside in the cold) than the 90mm refractor ( inside in the warm through the window)

Really gotta get my tracking platform finished...

Will probably help triage and obtain footage for prosecutions. Too often, and I sadly have personal experience with this, police take so long to get to a scene that there is no evidence for a charge and/or they mis-triage it and prioritize it too low because descriptions of the incident don't fully convey how serious it is.

Of course there's the worry about overreach but I can't see these offering anything more than allowing officers to do their jobs better.

Am enjoying the chance to "give comments" to things. Am hunting a Callaway pitching wedge .... long story .... but anyway, have asked to join a couple of golf club buy, swap and sell pages on the fb machine. 1 place asked me my favourite, and why, so I went with Major Houlihan because she was known as Hotlips for a reason! Another asked me my handicap, I put being a single parent as I have no time at all to play golf. And a third asked fpr any extra comments, so i put my standrard, Carlton are a rabble. Let's see how I go :-D

Btw, that albino nasty bastard cat thing above, kinda looks like a vampire....

Why not type it into Google mate, probably add the loft you're after....? For a pitching wedge, you've really only got 3 options:

44degree (ridic strong)
46degree (strong)*
48degree (normal)

I would also add 'deal' to the search, then once you have model # you want + loft req, search that one again and calculate best price/wait/delivery charge ratio.

Not that I'd know or anything.

*I permit Mizuno the satisfaction of forging my 46PW.

then you have bounce to consider, no bounce will make the iron dig, handy for sand, lots of bounce will make the club skid, handy for bare hard lies.

Or it helps them determine whether they can be bothered with it. Too often coppers dont do the hard work and rather do the easy shit.

Fir example. We had a site burglary a few months back, perps escaped us, young blokes knocking off tools and materials. Next door, security had clear footage of them and said we can let police know they have it.

The supervisor went to the cops, cop on watch basically said “and, what do you want us to do?”

I get that some cops are in it for the right reasons and work hard. Others really couldn’t give a ****. They wanted the supervisor to grab the video and bring it to them. Im not even sure security are allowed to release it to just anyone?

But I guarantee if we capture thieves, beat the snot out of em we would be the ones up for charges. Cops want the public to do their job for em and or want drones so they can sit on their arses and no nothing.

One more little snipe, but make sure everyone us driving under the speed limit that changes every few hundred metres. The priorities are wrong and reactionary to “stats” that never really change

i wouldnt be to sure of that,

i know of a scenario where there were some young miscreants form out of town coming in and doing low time bergs on local farm sheds, the locals cottoned on to it and started paying a bit more attention and they couldn't help themselves and went again and someone noticed them , anyway the call went out and a few of the locals took chase, the offenders not being from the area took of down a no through road, the locals waited at the entrance for them to come back and parked across the road, when they came back they gave em a bit of a touch up, so much so one had to be airlifted,

ol mate who got a bit carried away was worrying a bit afterwards until the Sarg rang him and said "pity about the injuries he got falling down the embankment when he ran away".....

Country coppers are different to city coppers. Especially if the coppers know ya. Anecdotal, but growing up and living country for almost 30 years is the way I saw it.

There is too much of what goes on at North from top down occurring in metro coppers. Country coppers especially low manned stations are really relaxed and really work with local community
