This would have to be the best ministry of sound cd yet. I know that some of the songs are a bit old but hey who cares!!! Coursey and DS are legends!!!

Picked it up Monday.

Agree that it is good. Then again, i love my ministry of sound stuff. Don't think you'll get much of an opinion of this type of music on BigFooty.

As usual, disc two is better than the first.

There's a few good songs in there, but I doubt I'll pick it up.

18. wink – Higher State Of Consciousness (Dirty South Vs Tv Rock Remix)
Should have left this alone. Original ftw.

Yeah dirty south is awsome. Heard him so many times it is not funny. I actually don't mind disc one, some of the stuff is a bit old but i did not have quite a lot of the songs so it was ok.

sorry my bad
i couldnt get the sessions 4 torrent to start downloading, kept on coming up with an error, quite shattering, looks amazing, cant wait for june 10 to go see dirty south and john course at HQ, however same night tonite only will be on at electric circus. ****KKK

My friend downloaded it using a torrent but it comes up as individual tracks which is not what you want - has anyone found it as one unbroken track or know of a magical way to join the tracks up? My friend is a bit of a n00b.

I bought it on the day it came out.

I'm pretty happy with it, MoS Annual and Sessions albums are always the best albums that come out throughout the year as they tend to be a bit more ahead of time compared to other compilation albums (Electro House Sessions, The Mash Up 2007 n all that).

Sessions 2006 and the Annual 2007 were just amazing compilations. I still listen to them and love pretty much every track. The 'dance'/'club' industry continues to change every year and i can't say i like where it is heading,, while there was alot of bass in the album, it was not to the extent of last years sessions or annual. I don't know its hard to critique club music.

I think its a good album but i haven't spoken to anyone who thinks its anywhere near the MoS albums of last year.

IMO 2005 was teh best Annual. It's gone a bit downhill from there.

Agree about where it's heading. There's so much crap out there because every second kid thinks they're a DJ cos they can chuck some lyrics over some cheesy beats. The whole 'dIrTy eLeKtrO' genre is repulsive.

A couple of years ago it was easy to find some good stuff on the net. Now there's one half decent song for every 10 bad ones. There's still some great tunes out there, but they're becoming harder and harder to find.

They're also opening a MoS club in St Kilda.

Melbourne secures site for Ministry of Sound

* Maurice Dunlevy
* May 25, 2007

WORLD famous dance club outfit the Ministry of Sound will open its first Australian venue at a revamped St Kilda waterfront development at the centre of a long-running legal saga.
Part of the historic St Kilda seafront is set for a $60 million makeover, which will also restore the resort's heritage-listed Palais theatre.

The 15,000 square-metre “Triangle” site will also feature tiny lanes, promenades and walkways linking entertainment venues, art spaces and retail outlets.

“This is a clever and considered use of the space, a who's who of Melbourne and Australian architects, hospitality, fashion and live music industries,” Port Phillip mayor Janet Bolitho said today.

“It's everything you love about St Kilda, only more of it.”

A consortium led by Babcock & Brown was today named as the winning bidder to develop the dilapidated site.

The new design would remain true to Federation-era St Kilda architect Carlo Catani.

“This is a truly remarkable result ... it (the Triangle) is certainly known as a tired and iconic site, which will be turned into an inspiration,” Victorian Planning Minister Justin Madden said.

“This is the whole package which brings together what we know and love in St Kilda. In a diverse and profound way, it draws upon the eccentricities, the dynamic of St Kilda and, in particular, the mix that we know and love about St Kilda.”

The development has not been without some controversy, however, with iconic rock venue the Palace set to be replaced by new entertainment venues, including a Ministry of Sound dance club and The Basement jazz club.

State opposition leader Ted Baillieu said the Palace would be missed and called for the site's development to be sensitive in keeping with the vibe of the foreshore.

“It's been an awful long time since I rocked and rolled at the Palace. It's been a very popular venue and I hope another venue which serves the same purpose can be found,” Mr Baillieu said.

“I haven't seen the details of the design, but I think whatever we do there has to reflect the foreshore, has to retain the views and has to retain the entertainment heritage in the area.

“We supported a redevelopment there. It's public appearance now is certainly less than attractive. It's a pretty grumpy old car park most of it and it doesn't do the area any good.”

Construction is expected to be completed within three years.

Can't wait

Saw Dirty South at Onelove on Saturday night and he played pretty much Sessions CD. It was an awsome night!

Just a question for you and Johnny Howard, would i be correct in saying that you are 21-23 years old?

I'm beginning to think that every time house/club music changes directions it forces alot of the older guys out to make way for the youngin clubbers.

I only turned 18 last year so the 2006 Sessions and 2007 Annual were the first MoS (im just saying them because tehy are arguably the most influential albums) albums that i really heard (the songs of...) at clubs.

I have the 2005 annual and its certainly a great album but very different to 2007 and even more different to the 2007 sessions album.

I find it funny to listen to major tracks of 04 and 05 annual/sessions against music from the last 12 months. Its ridiculous how much mainstream club music has changed.

Like compare Flash Dance (Deep Dish), Call on Me (Eric Prydz), Push Up (Freestylers) to major songs over the past 12 months like Where The Party's At, Put your Hands Up for Detroit, Exceeder etc.

...are you serious? What's the difference? Those songs are all crap of the highest order.

Are you serious? Perhaps i shouldn't be so harsh on someone who clearly doesn't have the capacity to read beyond a 3rd grade level.

I never said those songs were good (although i am partial to some of the newer ones), i was merely suggesting that there is a sizable difference between the sounds of major house/club music of today than it was 2-3 years ago.

If you can't recognize a difference, then i am truly surprised.

it is true. house 2-3 years ago was quite poor compared to today. it has improved dramatically but thats just my opinion.

I'm a product of my generation (I've only recently turned 19), so i'm probably biased but i find more recent house music has alot more, oomph to it. With oomph being a technical word:D .

To me it just feels like it has alot more energy to it and gets me going a lot more, but that said i still really like some of the older stuff.

I can see why people like the older stuff though, to each there own i suppose.

I'm a young one myself, turning 19 this year. I've got a few relatives and older mates who've been into the stuff for a while, so there's a big influence there. I first really got into it when I was 15-16. The 2005 Annual was the first one I picked up, so there's probably a bit of bias there as well.

From what I've seen, songs are sounding more and more the same as time passes. While the 2005 Annual was full of tracks that were unique, most tracks on the 2007 sound generic and unoriginal.

I guess everyone's opinion is completely subjective though. Someone who started listening to house last year is a lot more likely to rate 2007 better than 2005, and vice versa.

Should have left this alone. Original ftw.

I have to disagree i reckon disc one is always better than the second. Especially sessions 2&3, with songs like I want you by Paris Avenue and Midas Touch they are just classics.

I am more of a house fan than just pumping beats though...

Its a commercial CD so both are filled with commercial house, but i'm of the opinion that disc 2 is usually no where near as commercial. Its more the songs that you will hear from 2-5am at clubs as opposed to the first disc which is generally the more mainstream songs that you will also generally hear on radio.

Disc One is usually my favourite for the first few days, as your familiar with the songs (generally speaking) already, but disc two always has more lasting value for me, becuase (generally) there are songs you are unfamiliar with.

I'm in love with disc 2 of sessions at the moment.
