Surely its a lack of desire, the team has accomplished all. Last year was 4 in a row which probably pushed them to win those close games. Right now the hunger is lost.

Yup, i wouldn't give a * either...which is why i am not against trading anyone. Nobody is off limits, and deals can be done!

Are we as bad as our results suggest ? Or we just low on confidence and being poorly coached ?
The new ruck rule has finished off any ruckman who cannot jump
Ceglar is our only jumping ruckman

We have 1 KPD (Frawley)

We are playing one of the oldest teams each week, and are slow across the ground

Every other team in the competition know this!

It sucks not having a first round pick, but what would suck more right now would be having a speculative first round pick and no T Mitchell or JOM.
If we still had our first rounder we could tank for the #1 pick (wouldn't involve much tanking the way we're playing) and then trade it.

The #1 pick will get you damn near any player in the competition - think Shiel, Gawn, Cripps, Rance, Bontempelli. Not saying those guys would want to be traded to Hawthorn but the point is we could've had our choice of almost anyone willing to come to the Hawks, instead of taking a punt on JOM who may become elite but may not, yet we paid an elite midfielder's price for him and then some.

We traded 2017's 1st rounder for St.Kilda's pick 10. If we finish lower than St.Kilda did last year it will go down as a shocking trade, no ifs no buts.

We shouldn't accept mediocrity
Ah ha! Don't say that to loud.
The club for the last 10 years have been awesome and I feel very grateful for that. BUT, yes there is a but, apart from the 1st qtr last week vs the Adel boys, we have been the very definition of the word mediocre and that is NOT acceptable. What the club put out yesterday at Metrucon (and yes i was there ) was worse than a D grade 2s game. It was bloody aweful to watch.
This is not just a one off, it has now happened for the last 3 weeks. Apart from Hodge and I'll give Rough some grace, the others that are representing this club seriously need to extract their heads out of their arses.
That yesterday was rubbish and there is not one person who can disagree.

Unless Jaeger becomes one of the premier players in the Competition.

No but 4 cups earns u the right to assume your supporters show u the faith to get thru a transition ! The same way u accept his bringing u 4 cups, the same way u should accept the cycle of AFL that doesn't allow wot we did !

When u understand that, u might understand that this downturn is likely to happen with some pain, but indeed, 4 cups should earn u the right to the time and patience from your supporters

The downturn is temporary, the cups permanent.:)

One commentator mentioned that Smith, drove the team bus to the game. Does this mean the players were not prepared for a serious game? After all, this team had never beaten Hawrhorn, had they?

I don't believe the coaching staff would have a bar of this, but then again they must have OK'd Smith before he took the wheel, and if the social mind set was in motion, as soon as Ablett kicked their second goal, they were flying, and had unbelievable self confidence, whereas we we second in every facet of the game right from the start.

I'm not sure how the cycle of AFL socialism (draft/caps/FA) sees Jack Gunston playing everywhere but the forward 50 and Roughy being asked to be a 196cm midfielder. That has nothing to do with the down cycle which is part of AFL now. We have no system and the players look confused too.

Structure up, play the players with the fire in the belly and if we still lose by 14 goals to Gold Coast, such is life. But can you or anyone put your hand on your heart and say we have a defined game plan, players have defined roles and that Clarko has given us the best chance to win each game in 2017?

This is simply stunning commentary. What you are saying basically is that suddenly this year the coach that brought us 4 cups in 10 yrs, the coach who innovated the game and all other coaches use as yard stick, the coach who had a lot of that stuff being done previously when we were winning - eg roughy playing mid etc; SUDDENLY said coach has no game plan and doesn't understand how to structure the team ???

Get a grip people. But then I'm guessing u wanted Clarko sacked in his first years at the club and im 2009 with kennett.

Gimme a break. The players are playing effing sh1te and are giving close to zero effort. That's the problem not the sudden misunderstanding of how to coach structures

Izzy may have drove a minbus with the players that get to the ground earlier than the rest so that massage can start and everyone can get through in time

Clarko may be a marvel but he's coached very very poorly so far in 2017.
I think it was Einstein who defined insanity as doing the same thing over again & expecting different results.

Clarko must be a genius ... or insane.

For example, the number of times I've seen Puopolo as the sole target, deep in the forward line against a KPD has been staggering. It's amounted to absolutely nothing other than a turn over.

The chain of our defensive handballs that lead to a Suns player running into an open goal was probably the worst passage of play of any team for the year thus far. My Auskick kids could have done better.

There's multiple other examples of mistakes we have consistently made & don't appear to have learned from. Rinse & repeat. I don't get it!

We'd have to be bold and put some quality players on the table.

Who do we actually have to trade, we can only really trade an established gun player like Rioli or perhaps Smith to a team near the top, meaning it's a late first rounder.

We have no one a club that's near the bottom of the ladder would give their top 5 pick for.

Unless North comes to our rescue again with a stupid trade.

Yeah that is the dilemma I agree, all our assets are only of value to a team close to a flag.

The hysteria on this board is ridiculous.
Sure we got beaten and badly by Gold coast but the reason was purely mental.

They were motivated, we were apathetic.

We have issues I agree but no insurmountable ones.
Our list is just filled with champions that are playing like s**t.
Stratton
Bruest
Gunston
Rioli
Puopolo
Smith
Birchall
Shiels
Roughead
Frawley
Are all two or three and four time premiership players in the prime of their football careers who are having average to woeful games atm.
They have not lost their ability to play football.
Hodge, Gibson and Burgoyne might be very near the end and the new blokes haven't gelled yet but it is the ten players I mentioned earlier who are the makers or breakers for us.
Remember we were five goals up on the competition leader early in last weeks game.
Its all between the ears.

Tyron Vickery is proving an insurmountable challenge.

Rafa Benitez was a successful football (soccer) manager, until he lost his right hand man Pako Ayestaran. Without the calming Ayestaran, Rafa went a bit crazy, his lack of man management skills were exposed, he got punted from several teams, is managing in the English second tier and now they no longer even speak!

I think it's no coincidence that Fagan has departed the Hawks and the wheels have fallen off.

Maybe crazy Kennett was right calling for 10 year terms on any position?

Maybe at the end of this contract the Hawks need to head in a different direction?
