It either works or it doesn’t, and that’s often up to the quality of the director. None of Inception, The Thing, 2001 and No Country For Old Men suffer from an ambiguous ending and are likely made better for it. There’s nothing better than having to think about the ending of a movie days or weeks later.

Yeah I hate it lol. If you're writing the story then write the story. Not my job to decide how it ended

Not everyone wants the same outcome though which is why movies get left open.

Gone Girl Virgin suicides, Enemy, Prisoners Inception. All good examples

Sopranos - although I think it's obvious it still gets debated

Another banger.

Seems to me like Harmony's motivation for developing severance was an attempt to save her mother from pain/illness/death, after getting lung disease from working in a Lumon factory.

Jame/Eagan family/Lumon funded the concept and are trying to expand it to be used in an endless amount of ways so people don't have to be "awake" for bad experiences, such as going to the dentist, flying on aeroplanes etc. (that's what they're using Gemma for) and even childbirth. They are ultimately working out to see if you can be severed from experiencing death (Cold Harbor being the final stage).

The overall goal for Lumon - commercial use and therefore huge profit, with the potential to control populations too.

Harmony is now obviously pissed, as it is her concept. Helena would have no knowledge of this, hence her cockiness when dismissing Harmony.

Assuming the last two episodes will be full on and faster paced, I hope next (and presumably the last) season doesn't do the same as this one and slow the pace of the show again in the first episode.

Feature of the show is that they never really start episodes that pick up on from the previous - especially with cliffhangers, but as it gets closer to the conclusion of the overall story - I hope it really builds up towards the end.

None of the above is a criticism though. Enjoyed the episode and still my favourite show at the moment. Just was more aware of it watching this episode after what happened with Mark in the previous. Don't think it would suit the show to continue the same pattern as more things are revealed.

Another poor episode unfortunately. Was just very hard to stay interested with such a slow episode coupled with having to play catch up with what was even going on

I'm talking about the season, not the series. Read up about Dan Harmon's story circle. We're obviously going to get some key answers at the end of the season where I think we're going to know a lot more about what's going on at Lumon. The direction from there could go a number of ways.
Dan Harmon? lol

Before this last ep, the lowest score any one episode had on imdb was 7.7/10. This one sits at 6.7/10.

imdb isn't the greatest source a lot of the time, but I reckon its pretty spot on here.

It was absolutely not worth its own 45 minutes. We've had some filler(ish) eps but at least they had something extra, whether it was just nice storytelling or a huge moment that knocked you for six. This had none of that.

Still liking the season, but I'm just not that compelled by the Lumon lore. It was inevitable that they would flesh that part out, but the more they do the further they get away from the things in the show I do like.

Primarily, the core four, their relationship to their outies, and why someone would want to sever their memories. Think they'll land the last two episodes and have it finishing on a high, but would want a third season to be tighter and not have wild plot leaps like Devon calling Cobel for help.

Such ridiculous and frustrating writing. "Oh yeh let's call this person we hate and don't trust because suddenly we do kinda trust her but not really..." :drunk::drunk::drunk:

yeah this is it for me. I like shows like Leftovers where you introduce a big sci fi concept but then the focus of the show is how people adjust and deal with this event/situation. S1 of this show felt like that but now it feels more like a puzzle box show like westworld/lost.

THe only person who has a storyline that isnt mainly focused on the big Lumon conspiracy is Dylan, and unsurprisingly the stuff with him and his wife is the most interesting idea this season.

Dylan's cry of "Gretchen!" was heartbreaking.

Yeah great acting. Think this episode did well building up the emotional stakes for a big finale.

As mentioned by others, hope the pacing improves next season. Balance of mystery/hiding stuff from the audience has been a bit lopsided.

Also, think Milchick is low key one of my favorite characters period, let alone this show. Dude is an amazing actor as well.

I hope we see a full blown turn on Lumon by him by the end of the show.

I reckon that episode was one of the best yet. Just tension throughout along with heartbreaking scenes.

Perfect television. Can’t wait for next week.

Btw, how’s the way they framed Cobel in that last shot?

Decent episode that time. Only real gripe is it’s an episode I would have enjoyed more if I didn’t know we were two eps out from the end of the season going in as it didn’t give many answers but was still a good main character driven episode

Apparently the season finale is 70 minutes.

My main hope is that they don't drag the mystery of Cold Harbour into next season.
Cobel basically confirmed that it would end in Gemma’s death when completed.

I’m pretty certain we will find out what it is, but I suspect that like last season it will finish on a cliffhanger.
