Random Trivia .

Was re-watching The Conversation - the award winning neo-noir thriller movie from 1974 starring Gene Hackman - last night and my ears pricked up in a scene about one hour into the movie where Hackman's character and a woman are flirting at a party in his warehouse office. The mood piano music being played in the background of that scene is the opening theme music for Severance.

The lines being spoken at the time seemed to fit:

Hackman: 'What if you were waiting for someone?'
Woman: 'You can trust me'

Later in the movie we learn that girl was not to be trusted. ;). And the music features again the the final scene when Hackman's character sits in his demolished apartment having been unable to discover a wire tap.

Had to tell someone.

As you were.

How friggen wild was that finale!? Perfection.

Oh, and a fun easter egg of which there are hundreds from this episode

Noticed that one of the rooms shown is named Adelaide. Australian actress Dichen Lachman, who plays Gemma/Ms Casey grew up in Adelaide. ;)

‘The After hours’, the name of last weeks episode, is named on behalf of an early Twilight Zone episode. An elevator ride to the 9th floor, speciality department and gold thimble are all in that episode (that can be watch on iTunes). Ok episode about a department store where each month a different mannequin comes to life and spends the month amongst humans.
This episode was one of the inspirations for Severance apparently.

Amazing episode. Intrigued to see how they avoid doing what this season did and reset the pace of the show though based on the ending. Can't see the chaos of the final few minutes carrying over a full season.

So to start Season 3, innie Mark has no desire or need to leave. He wants to be with Helly. I think he will stay as long as possible on the severed floor – with the reintegration kicking in at some point, and some clearer outtie Mark memories/thoughts about Gemma to throw a spanner in the works.

Just really excellent. I hadn’t really thought about whether the last episode this season could top the last episode of last season, but having watched it, they absolutely did.

Such great interactions between Mark and his innie, and between the different versions of Mark, Gemma, Mark S and Miss Casey. The heartbreak of Gemma being free but Mark S turning his back on her choosing Helly R. The Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid freeze frame ending, but hopefully will a better outcome. Where do they think they’re running to- are they hoping they’re in a building that becomes so large it becomes a continent? Or is there no plan and they’re just trying to grab every moment of existence they can before their outie snuffs it out?
I also feel ‘they’ll all die’ is going to be important- but who is he talking about?

I reckon he's talking about the 25 versions of Gemma dying.

Didn’t really rate season 2
Started ok but the last few episodes were disappointing I thought. Wasn't a huge fan of the finale last night but was very tired when watching which may have contributed.

Even the great line last week "devour feculence" would have been way better if he didn't have to explain afterwards
"that means 'eat shit'". Just felt like it didn't hit the high marks of season 1.

Yeah. For me the show’s draw card was the eerie day-to-day atmosphere of working at Lumon. Granted the whole point of the story is the eventual liberation from it, but S2 wasn’t able to recreate that magic at all.

Nah season 1 was far better for me. The finale was good but there were far less threads to connect in season one and they just did less better imo

Re-watched the episode. It’s perfect.

Those scenes with Mark and Helly when he’s finishing Cold Harbour. Man, had me welling up again.

Helly R the MVP by a whisker from Mark.

Just Wow though, every scene is on point.

Can’t wait for season 3. I’m betting on the band getting back together.

Season 1 ending better
Season 2 ep 7 best episode, perhaps one of the best of any show

I know people like it but personally was a mediocre episode for me. Wasn’t hitting the parts of the show that I have enjoyed most. End of S1 and start of S2 were peak Severance for me

Loved Innie Mark caught between 2 worlds, Helly and Gemma, of course he made the right call for him, his connection is to Helly, the red light (equator) sequence a lovely touch.
Thing is though, he can't stay down there forever.
Eventually he's going to have to leave the severed floor and then outie Mark will be calling the shots.

My prediction though is that the re-integration procedure is going to cause some havoc in this regard and could get ugly if there is a fight for control of his body.

They start to lose me a bit with the idea of two seperate people trying to control one body. Like it’s the same person obviously just with memory blocks and as you remove them you just become more aware. Leans a bit too much into the idea they are completely seperate people at times
