Quick Punter ... horse racing
It is still a randomized simulator but perhaps a tiny but less random ... horse's form over its past few races has a slight effect.

Horse names are typed in to register a new one.

When wanting to race, you choose from a bunch of races which are essentially 8 horses over 800m,, 900m 1000m etc, 9 horses over 800m, 900, 10000m etc up to I think 16 horses.

The race is represented by the names of the horses one on each row, a metreage counter scrolling right to left, and the names inching left and right - as though you are watching the field race with the leader at the far right.

Anyone using the game can register themselves as a punter, set up an account with some free starting cash, and bet on win place or each way. You can't tie multiple races together in a bet - because the meetings' races are chosen by the player as you go.

Was another game like Qooty where myself and drunk buddies would stand around the computer screen and scream a lot.

Here's the last table for a Qoccer league, all fake town/team names: About 15 or 20 seasons were played. Same mates-screaming-at-computer environment.

Also, Mobbenfuhrer what was the first game to be simmed and who won?

The first regular season matches for a league ever simmed was in Round 2 of the Hoyton Football League's 1992 season (replacing a shittier, simpler, older program).
Not sure which was played first of these, but these are the only two stat sheets surviving from the 5 matches played (lol be thankful qooty these days doesnt sometimes just drop out the entire half time scoreline):

You think I haven't tried this over the years guys?

Yes.
It's entirely random. The only other things that affect outcomes are things that come from things entirely random.
For example yes a full forward should generally shoot at goal more often than pass it. And yes the distance out from goal affects % likelihood of goal accuracy. But those things only come from equally random starting points anyway. Nothing you or I or anybody does without editing the code makes a shred of difference to how a match is played out.
