Hey Collingwood board,

We've got approval from the mods to run a couple of exhibition games promoting the Sweet Football Association (SFA) and drum up some interest in case there are some people keen to join. In the past we've had a Tour which involves an all-SFA squad up against a Collingwood board squad, but this is a little different. These are two current SFA teams who will face off in two matches, but we're inviting board members to take part in either the Dragons FFC or Gold City Royals squads. You'll get to immerse yourself in what a normal match thread will look like, and also see how the two sides post. At the end, if you'd like to join either side in the upcoming Season 33, then that would be a perfect window right ahead of the (SFA) real stuff!

EXHIBITION SERIES:
Sunday, January 23 & Thursday, January 27

Background:

The Dragons are coming off a successful Season 32 where they claimed their third premiership, whilst the Royals under the co-captaincy of PMBangers and The Filth Wizard were competitive throughout and just missed out on the finals series. Though the Dragons went through the season to claim the minor premiership, both sides have plenty of quality players to watch out for in 2022.

Captains:

serial_thrilla will captained the Dragons to the flag in Season 32, whilst PMBangers is now taking over the reigns as solo captain after sharing the role last season.

Players to Watch:

Naturally winning the premiership, the Dragons have a plethora of players to keep an eye on. Bonz is coming off an all-SFA selection after a starring role at full-forward for the Dragons, whilst midfield dynamo T2B_ and ruck Strigoi also had outstanding years. What adds to the spice of the clash was the selection of All-SFA ruck GreyCrow who was selected ahead of Strigoi, and the pair - widely regarded as the best rucks in the competition - will face-off in this special exhibition series. The Royals also have some quality talent in spookism and Marlowe whilst the Dragons have the record SFA games holder in Ljp86 a multiple-winning Mobbs medallist (league best and fairest) and he and Pie 4 Life hold the league record for most games played together.

How it will work:

The captains will name a side ahead of the game on Sunday, with PMBangers to simulate the match via Qooty (the text-based simulator used). Then once that game is done, there will be a second game on Thursday, with the teams named the day before (Wednesday) for PMBangers to simulate.

How you can play:
  • Sign-up and say which team you would like to play for Dragons or Royals
  • State what position you would like play (it's the same as any football match, forwards, defenders, midfield etc.)
  • The captains will then 'sub' you into the team sheet replacing another player from their list
  • Try and balance the sign-ups so both teams can have an even split
What happens once the series is over:

If you enjoyed it, then feel free to sign-on with the respective teams (or the other teams). Or if you didn't like anyone but enjoyed the game, you can still sign up on the SFA forum here. There are plenty of club-aligned teams (no Magpies sorry), but the Dragons and Royals are a couple of neutral sides, non-aligned to clubs and welcoming.

Anyway, main thing is to have fun, so please sign-up if you're interested, or if you want to see what the deal is, watch the first game and sign up for the second!

Hi Collingwood.

The Royals logo is normally much, much bigger than that.
Have to look out for the interests of scrolling.

If anyone wants to see what the Royals are compensating for, check out their team thread on the forum.

Spoiler: It’s PMBangers
