Really sad day and even more so given his age, his fight and that he leaves behind a wife and two young children.

As an avid golfer and watcher of the game I followed his career closely. I played in a pro am a number of years back that he played in at Yering Meadows. From memory he won and shot 66 or something incredible. What stood out though was his willingness to engage with the hackers and for a world class talent seemed happy to be there.

Like most my favourite Lyle memory is the one below. An ace at the most famous or should that be infamous hole on the PGA tour. The 16th at Phoenix, the party hole. I think this moment sums this guy up, the unbridled excitement is just priceless.
