Tonight at 7.20 we bid farewell to this wonderful feline.

She was 16. She'd had fourteen kittens, in a nine month period, four of which we've kept, as we slowly let her know that she was safe and around people who would never hurt her. She was our garden protector and a first class rat catcher. And she was loved.

Rest easy now Shadow. You will dwell in your garden forever.

So sorry for your loss. They really steal your heart, my cat is 16 or 17 and I know she won’t be around forever but even thinking about that brings tears to my eyes.

Mrs m made the significant point that we have had Shadow in our lives more than half the time we've been married (15 years).

I actually forgot what it was like having a kitty but since getting my little man. Gosh! The snuggles and the companionship is out of this world.

Mine are actually dickheads, but yes we do love them and they are a really nice diversion. Pets are lovely and I genuinely believe they are healthy to have around. Being friends with animals is fascinating and a lot of fun.
