WORLD TENNIS TOURNAMENT

YES! Everyone cries out as we land ourselves on an indoor tournament. Points aren't everything, but it brings the top players back to the pack. Although not too many players have decent indoor stats, so tactics will be even more interesting! Good luck to all, it's a 500 point tournament, so some decent points on offer for those looking to reach for seeds ahead of the clay season.

MIXED RESULTS FOR BRITS, KIWIS IN QUALIFYING​

NEW Zealand and Great Britain's two hopes each had mixed results in the qualifying for the World Tennis Tournament. Debutant Nick Morgan easily defeated Liechtenstein's Pie 4 Life to move through to the main draw of the 500 tournament, however his compatriot The Half Back had an agonisingly close loss to Brit, Headless 6-4 4-6 7-6 (7). Headless moves through to his second consecutive main draw, while all the other winners will be moving through after losing in qualifying last round.

PhenomenalV1 saw off the challenge of Karnezis_13 in straight sets, 6-4 7-5, while Nakia defeated Wacky Tiger in a match that could not get any closer - the Dutch getting home in a tiebreaker in the third set to win. In the other match, Cassandra Rinaldi broke her winless streak to knock out one of the recent strong performers, Monaco's Ninja Swan 3-6 7-5 6-4, coming back from a set down to claim victory. All the winners now move through to the main draw in what is expected to be a close tournament.

Seeds advance, as does qualifier Morgan, through to quarters​

IT was a new surface, but plenty of familiar faces moved through to the quarter finals as each of the four seeds survived a round one loss. Number one seed JT had an early fright, dropping the first set 6-4, before winning 6-1 6-1 in the final two sets. The other three seeds had much lighter work, as Frenchman reggie defeated Nakia 6-1 6-4, EJW moved through after a 6-3 6-3 victory over dog_nah, and Dennis Lopez took down Cassandra Rinaldi 6-3 6-2. In the unseeded matches, JackNah's rotten form continued, going down in three sets after winning a second set tiebreaker, qualifier Nick Morgan shocked Loonerty with a 6-2 6-3 victory, while sportsmaniac89 and nahnah won in straight sets over two qualifiers in PhenomenalV1 and Headless respectively.

In the quarter finals, number on seed JT will face haydo, while the improving qualifier Nick Morgan faces fourth seed reggie, third seed EJW takes on sportsmaniac89, and nahnah will engage in a battle with second seed Dennis Lopez.

Regular suspects move through, EJW suffers another quarter finals loss​

WHILE the courts may be different, some familiar faces remain in the semi-finals as three of the top three seeds advanced through to the semi-finals of the World Tennis Tournament. Newcomer to the seeding reggie will face world number one JT, while the unseeded sportsmaniac89 will test himself against second seed Dennis Lopez. JT had the easiest of quarter finals, destroying Australian unseeded hope haydo, 6-1 6-0, while Lopez had an easy victory over nahnah, winning 6-1 6-3. sportsmaniac89's good form continued with an upset win over EJW, defeating 6-4 6-3, with only reggie having to work to knock off qualifier Nick Morgan. reggie was shocked early on to trail 6-2 after a set, then the Frenchman picked it up and won the next two in tight sets, 7-5 7-5.

Most of the players are no doubt looking forward to the clay court circuit to stop the run of dominance by the top two players.
