No, Caulfield Bears now call Koornang Reserve home, have done for a few years now.

You're right about the 2nd oval at Mckinnon possibly being utilised, but again GE council are pretty stringent about the traffic on the grounds, factoring in that juniors play on it

There you go. It's been a while since I have seen the bears play

They've put up 90k worth of new lights on the back oval, i hope someday they look to develop a second grandstand and fence in the back oval to create a second top quality oval (the surface is really good atm).

It is late to move Heatherton out and ??? Club in but not impossible. The fixture would be the same just transpose Heatherton into ??? Div 2 games and vice versa.

Taking into consideration the inconvenience of altering fixtures etc, it is a far better alternative than Heatherton struggling through the season or part of the season until they run out of players and we have a bye. This is Division 1 of our Comp and the integrity should be maintained. If they had Reserves and U'19's it would be a different story as most clubs have shocking seasons, us included, from time to time. But without players around the club, noone would go there in the future and you would have another Parkmore situation.

The league need to move quickly!!!

Lets face, whilst Highett and Heatherton are struggling more than most, every club (St Pauls aside) have lost more players than they have gained.
IMO, unfortunately the standard of the comp will take a big backward step in 2013 and if the Doggies don't win it (and should go through undefeated), they will be spewing. They might have still won it without spending big time on Bruno, James etc!! At least now they have made sure.
2014 anyone? ;)

Hey SF good work on SEN Who have Chelsea and E. Bri lost to make St. Pauls unbackable in your valued opinion. What about City, Dingley & Clayton have they picked up enough to challenge, Any chance you could provide us your ladder predictions

East Brighton have lost Toby Mahoney (Port Melbourne), Michael Henningsen, Glen Marshall, Andrew Howson and Ryan Emmett leaving Hurlingham Reserve. Added Matt Skehan (who has played in four years and has some body issues). Good player when fully fit, would love him back at Chelt.

From what I have heard/seen, Chelsea Heights have seen a big turnover of players with Brad Dean and Brad Carmody (didn't play last year due to injury) departing, Jarryd Uren and Tim Grant have joined Paul Wineberg at Ashwood, and stars Mark Fitcher and Jarrod Dalton are heading to new boys Carrum-Patterson Lakes in Division Three. Also talk recently that Barr won't play much, if at all and that Travis Johnstone may also be heading to Carrum-Patto Lakes (just a rumour!!). No real additions of note and from talking to a few down there, they are looking at blooding some kids and going with youth.

Now on St Pauls, whilst they have lost a few young guns in Matt Kreymborg (Sandringham), Jesse Plostins (Sandringham), Harley Ambrose (Karingal) and Jackson Heagney-Steart (Old Haileybury/Collingwood VFL), those losses have been off set by the quality ins such as Luke James, Jay Bruno, Tim Blackwood.

On the other clubs, St Kilda City have put the band back together with Quinn, O'Neill, Tasiyan and co. back on deck. Will age catch up with them though? All great players no doubt, but they are each the wrong side of 30.

Chelt has lost a bunch of key players depart in Keast, Martin and Donnell and Andrews. Brody Hodic will miss most of the year with his broken leg and Mackinnon/Weekes/Lynch have retired.

Dingley have lost star pairing in Daniel Turcarelli and Jack Clausen as well as Ben Arnold and Renato Nunziato without any real major in's.

Clayton have lost star Kennedy along with Kreskas and a few fringe players but importantly retained Purvis.

Both Highett and Heatherton have both lost a truck load of players and are expected to battle big time. Both lost practice games at the recently to lower division clubs…not a good sign no matter what players are available.

No real idea on East Malvern, but there list in 2012 was pretty good...just a bit old. They should be competitive though if they are all retained and may surprise with others came back to the pack.

East Malvern a little high there for mine. I'd put both Dingley & Clayton (just) ahead of them
Agree Dingley shouldn't drop this year. Everyone at the club is positive their list is better than last year. Inclusions are Forrest and Stocky from Phillip Island, stocky won the BnF. La rocca from Sandy was a gun junior returning, Dureau from Port will be our best recruit. Plus there average age would be 22 at best. I reckon they will be reasonable strong and quick. Clausen is a loss but will play and qualify when not required at Frankston.

Newton was at training last week.... Murphy is 50/50.

The call earlier that we're looking to blood some kids is kind of true. But we started doing it a couple years ago, so it's not really new info. If you don't put those plans in for the future, you're doomed...Unless you have someone at your club with an open chequebook. I'm not having a crack at any clubs in particular, every side pays players, we all know that. But those clubs that seem to be there abouts every year, generally have a list that they've built and has stayed together for a while.

As people here have said form the last few seasons, our list has been getting on a bit, so I think it's pretty exciting actually.

And hopefully for the final time, the players that were mentioned that have left this year...Fitch & Dalton...Off to play with some mates. Fitch has earnt his rest in 3rd divvy. Dalts is gonna be pretty hard to stop there. Grant & Uren to Ashy. Neither has played 1's for a couple years anyways. Nor has Dean & Carmody, who to be fair, never really performed at their best for us, mainly because of injury. So our senior side isn't really going to miss them.

OK so not much different as it turns out - just swapped EM and Dingley... Obviously injuries and depth will have an effect on the season, but can imagine that any of the 4 teams between St Kilda and Malvern could knock each other off on their day

Sorry to hear, as it was a great idea

The Southern Football League Season Launch has been regrettably cancelled for 2013 due to the Trevor Barker Oval being declared unfit for play.

Bayside City Council and Sandringham Football Club have recently had the ground resewn with grass in an attempt to repair the damaged areas however the ground will not be in an acceptable condition by Friday 12thApril.

The SFL have explored a number of alternative venue possibilities however restrictions on appropriate match lighting and function facilities have made relocation opportunities not feasible.

The Cheltenham v St Kilda City senior match will now revert back to Saturday 13th April 2:00pm at Cheltenham Recreation Reserve.

It's got me beat why they don't use Linton St

There has been practice matches played on it this preseason

Heard at a praccy match today that Highett is folding and Old Mentonians will be taking over the ground. Can someone please verify. Also some doubt over Heatherton fielding 2 sides.

That's bullshit. Old Mentonians established a relationship last season and will play 3 home games at Turner Rd in 2013. Highett are definitely in struggle town, but they'll come out the other end. They've got a strong junior program. They just need to ensure the pathway is there to nurture the next generation through to become senior footballers.

We heard a similar Old Mentonians rumour last year, but with a merger with Mordialloc. Obviously they desperately want to get off the school's ground in Keysborough. Or the school want them out??
