Moody Blue every SFL has the rigt to lodge a complaint and if your club recekons they have been harshly dealt with by number 6 then have the guts to report it to the league. The SFL like all comps will establish if the complaint is valid and if so send an investigator to ask some questions then if the investigator finds the player has a case to answer then he gets sent to tribunal. The VAFA are not as clever as they want you to believe I supply to vafa clubs sfl clubs and peninsula clubs and from what I see the SFL runs rings around the VAFA in terms of Admin. In The VAFA they have just found out today where the finals are being played this week, the SFL had that sorted months ago!!! Just a small example of Cannizio and his team keeping up the good work that Holsworth and Barnes started..

To be fair to the ammos perspective, and you've heard this before over on the VAFA board, there's 7 grades of football (3 sections with thirds) + 5 grades of Under 19s + 1 grade of Under 18s then on top of all that 3 grades of Club XVIII. When requesting approval from a umpteen number of councils with the preparation of crickets wickets already underway, its a logistical nightmare. I think they do OK

Although our club were a little disillusioned by VAFA HQ by the end of our stay there, I take my hat off to the person(s) that have to organise the whole campaign. (Except when they sent us to Craigieburn for the 2010 Grand Final after 2 finals at Coburg Oval) :D ;)

I did enjoy your full back running 20m to clean up Francis behind play, although some would argue a hip and shoulder into the back of a player that wasn't anywhere near the play, and not to mention wasn't looking would also be considered a poor act.

Could have done serious back/spinal injury.

Will be very interesting if Dingley and East Brighton meet again this finals campaign, and i for one will be happy to pay the $12 entry to see this.

Running 20mtres to clean up Francis, get off the grass. He bumped Francis and Francis went down looking for a free. Furthermore, our Full back would be 15 kgs lighter than Francis and a couple of inches shorter. Our kid that got hit is probably 60kgs and the hero that hit him from behind probably 85kgs.

I understand that it is Finals time and sh happens but this was low in anyones language. As i said, he has to live with himself.

Mahalo i was at the game, and right behind the goals. I saw your full back run 20m and then hip and shoulder Francis in the back, he did a good job and Francis certainly didn't play for the free, the umps were nowhere in sight.

Not condoning what Reid did (never condone king hits etc) plus i didn't see the incident in question. Just pointing out something that one of your players did to show that all teams have been guilty of questionable acts in the heat of battle.

Fair point Greg it's all about glass houses sometimes. Williamson had his jaw broken last year behind play but you didn't see East Brighton squealing!

Fair comment Fish but the week of the game to tell clubs where the next week of finals is ??/ anyway I reckon the SFL clubs are supportive of the SFL Admin way more that the VAFA clubs are, I hear the District VAFA clubs whingeing all the time.
Mahalo if you think that number 6 from East did something wrong get Menzel to fire off a complaint. Pushing it under the carpet waiting for a chance to square up is 70's and 80's stuff and seriously most of the blokes out there these days do not know how to fight all they do is push and shove and pull guernseys. Best this is sorted now becasue another loss this week end to Chelsea and Dingley may not have another opportunity against East anyway...

It's easy to have a biased opinion when it's your own team, especially if you think the other player deserved it also. Just a bit of perspective i guess.

I went and watched some Colts on the weekend also, very impressed with the standard of football being played.

Fair enough GT, enough said about this.

And you havent heard Dingley squealing either. I am speaking from my point of view only as i am a friend of the family of the injured player.

Dingley arent fighters either, and dont intend to do anything outside of the rules. Wasnt a good look but it is done now.

Ive never seen a birth certificate or set of scales on a football field. The kid is about 21 isn't he? that's a 4 season senior player in most cases. I'm not talking about the act, I didn't see it, merely making the point that emotional language clouds issues.
Also, I believe the ambulance was called, but not required. Again, very dramatic but unneccesary. Conscious and walking (walked off the ground), would rarely require an ambulance, and yes I have a lot of experience in this area.

Wasn't the alleged act a tackle. Not trying to upset anyone so if I have it wrong please correct me

Are you seriously suggesting that reporting a player to the League who has allegedly hit someone behind play takes guts? Are you deranged? And yes the Ammos do it better and quicker than most competitions.
They want to get to the truth not run around for a month trying to find out what happened.

I am not affiliated with any particular club and enjoy going around and watching local games of SFL Footy in Div 1 & Div 2. What I can tell you is that I have seen far too many behind the play incidents where cowards get away with the king hit; and clubs for reasons only known to themselves invoke the old chest nut what happens on the field stays on the field. Well I strongly disagree. People who conduct themselves in this manner are DOGS and they should be suspended.

One day a player will be king hit by a coward, and that player will suffer serious trauma or will die on the field. Only when this happens will the penny drop for clubs and administrators.

You would think that with so many officials at the Finals someone would have seen something. The SFL should advertise for volunteers who will commit to watch games and report any unsavoury incidents. Every player will know that if the umpires miss it then it is very likely that an honory official will have picked up the incident and make a report which will be heard by tribunal.

It might dissuade some of these dogs.

I know of a few cases where behind the play incidents have been reported to the league, investigated & prosecuted both by the SFL and subsequently the Police.

And this statement "They want to get to the truth not run around for a month trying to find out what happened." makes no sense. You investigate for as long as it takes.

He will be ok. Pretty average is a gross understatement.

3 Umpires on the ground and this happened right in the middle of the 3 of them. This bloke should not be playing but he has to live with himself. He must find it hard to walk past a tree!

From where I was sitting it was a hard tackle by a mature bodied (85kg) players against an immature body (60kg). When this situation occurs there is likelyhood of injury. The mature bodied player can't be expected to reduce his tackling intensity because the person he is tackling is lighter and less physically capable. It is senior football and a finals match where aggression and physicality are the norm. Perhaps if Dingley had tackled with similar intensity the result may have been closer.

Don't like anyone being hurt but come on the bloke is 21 and 6 foot 1 and even though a slight build would be closer to 80kg than 60kg.
EB weren't impressed either im sure when their ruckman had his shoulder broken a fortnight earlier in an average attempt to spoil a mark.
I've seen a lot of div 1 footy over the years and would have to declare it a very fair comp so im not too sure what moody blue is on about.

Moody Blue, you are wrong the SFL have stats that they provide to clubs on investigations and the speed in which they investigate them, and the percentage that go to the tribunal and then the percentage that actually get rubbed out, it is all done quicker than the VAFA and that is based on quantifiable evidence not the anecdotal bs you have suggested. The perception that the VAFA do it better is inaccurate. But I dont want to argue with you as you obviously arre a good SFL followewr and deserve your opinion. Good luck to your Dingoes this week.

I have heard that Chelsea from the MPNFL has applied with the SFL to change leagues next season. Have no cash to compete and no future income prospects.
Would allow, Heatherton and Highett to drop. Only a rumour, but came from someone inside Chelsea

If that turns out to be true, and the league can somehow attract another club, I think they should go to 4 8 team divisions.

It will make the divisions more competitive and decrease the gap for promoted sides.

This rumour has been floating around for a couple weeks now. The rumour I have heard over the last couple of weeks is that they are in a bit of financial trouble at the moment and they have been already been talking with the SFL. If they come to the SFL they will go straight into Division 1.

Although, just a rumour at the moment. No confirmed sources.

I heard a similiar rumour on Saturday but no club was named.

What are your thoughts on this JustAnotherMembe? From a Chelsea Heights man, is this good from the comp or stepping on your toes?

Could develop into one hell of a derby

From a league perspective, its great if it gets a big fish over the line. Chelsea did lose a lot of players of the preseason; a lot of these were to SFL clubs. Maybe its a ploy to get them back?

Good idea in theory but it won't work having 8 team divisions.

You'll need to play 21 home & away rounds, playing each opponent 3 times to make a fair & uncomprised fixture. Then on top of this there's still 3 weeks of finals to play (having a top 4). The year would have to start in March with praccy matches before that (still cricket season) to get through it all.

The growth at the SFL continues. It always amused me when you had clubs such as Chelsea in the MPNFL (VCFL) and Skye and Carrum playing in SFL that are further out ..EdithvaleAspendale will be next I reckon.

If Chelsea come in, there will be one division with 11 teams, so their fixturing will compromised anyway.

And if the league keeps growing like it has, it will leave all divisions with more than 10 sides, throwing the fixturing out again.

Why couldn't you keep it at 18 games?

The traditional derby here would be between Carrum and Chelsea.

The Carrum and Chelsea rivalry dates back over 100 years to 1911 when both clubs formed as combined Carrum-Chelsea Football Club. In 1919 Chelsea broke away to form the Chelsea Football Club and since then both teams have played each other on around 70-90 occasions.

Carrum v Chelsea used to pull massive crowds back in the day. Going by the crowds we have been getting this year I can't imagine how big the crowd would be if both teams faced off again. Even if we are not yet back up to the standard of days gone, there are alot of people who would love to see another Carrum v Chelsea game.

11 teams in a comp doesn't comprimise fixturing, it just means you have a 2 byes & no split round during the year. This would keep it to 18 games.

Having 8 teams in a division would cause mayhem if you only play 18 rounds. It would mean you play 4 teams x 3 times & 3 teams only twice.

With the evenness of the divisions, (especially in division 2 where 2 games separated 2nd to 6th on the ladder) there would be an uproar if a team would missed out on finals, if it didn't play the bottom teams an extra time, like the other clubs did, or even a double chance for that matter.

Whilst Chelsea v Carrum is indeed the traditional rivalry... One of the reasons why, is probably because that we've never play them. Let me tell you right now... There is ZERO love lost between us 2 clubs that are separated by only a baseball diamond and a kids playground. Would be a good earn for whoever's home game it was I'd imagine. Id welcome them in... Not sure what Puppet would say, although if there's cash to be made, I'd suggest he'd be all for it.

Not sure how they'd be allowed to come straight into 1st Div though.
