Apparently Carrum/Paterson lakes is a retirement village for edi/asp players.
Sorry but I haven't played for 15 odd years and am trying to get into it this year (2013), though from reading these forums it seems like players are forever switching clubs with no sort of loyalties whatsoever. I guess Im just curious but what would the reasons be for this? Is lots of players leaving a club one year just a sign of bad culture at a club etc?

Could be a number of things.
Money, opportunity, playing with mates, bad culture from previous club or wanting to play a higher / lower standard.
5-6 years ago, Sandown was not a good place to be at because of culture. Now it has one of the best cultures of any club iv'e played at.
I don't believe there has been a lot of player movement within each division though. Generally players switch clubs in a different division. The biggest name to switch that I have seen would be jay Bruno from stkilda city to St. Paul's.

As a supporter of a club in a higher division, some of you lot better be consigned to playing for minor placings.

I'd be surprised if anyone got within 10 goals of Carrum having seen some of their signings. They may be evergreeen, but some of these players played in SFL Div 1 and 2 Grand Finals this very year, as well as those coming across from the MPNFL.

Could this be linked to a post in another thread that rumoured that some Oakleigh players are on the move?

Its already common knowledge that some Skye players are joining them next year, can you reveal others?

MountPrettyBoy if you have more than 1 applicant for the reserves coaching job, can you send the other our way? :D ;) We are also still desperately looking to fill this position.

Its ironic how the 2 reserves teams in Div 2 & Div 3 who have each won the last few premierships, each have a vacant coaching spot. Not hi-jacking you advertisment of anything;)

Caulfield may win a game or 2 if they are lucky. CPL have had between 40 and 50 on track each night with a bit of quality. I have heard from one of the blokes down at Mount that they have had strong numbers. Doesnt matter a lot until Feb March next year to see how many quality players sign on... I believe Fitcher, Hynes are certainties, Moor uncertain but 2 very good young players from not far away are to arrive in Feb that will make a big difference.

Look at other clubs offered:

Sandown - Could be ok in Div 2. Strong off-field. Wants the Flag in 2013.
Ashwood - Was smashed in Div 2 not long before. Seem ok off-field. Rebuilding on-field.
Mount - Never been in Div 2. Not sure if weak off-field. Not sure if still in running for flag.

Sandown seems like only good fit.

Ashwood - No
Mount - No

I would expect to see Caulfield back in Div 3in 2014 based on the way they previously played in Div and their form last year, they didnt even make finals in Div 3 so not sure what the difference will be in 2013 unless they do some decent recruiting.

The facts are there were 9 teams in Div 2 and 11 in Div 3, clubs cannot be forced up a division without winning a premiership. Can't be for certain but I think Lyndale made the jump after the 98 season into Div 2 after not making finals.
It is apparent that the SFL have contacted the clubs that are trading fairly profitably and Caulfield were the club that considered the offer and accepted it. I am sure that they were not the SFL's first choice.

Good luck to the Bears I say, a well run club with a great bunch of blokes.

Yep agree, i know Caulfield wasnt the first club asked and apparently they just went down the list and they were to ones who accepted, like i said though i think unless something changes onfield considerably i can see them back in Div3 in 2014 which i dont think would be good for the club, i would love to be proved wrong though.

Was told Tony Bevacqua and two other Oakliegh Districs players where training down at Endeavour hills along with a couple of blokes from hampton park. A chance to get off the bottom of the ladder? push for finals?
