Heard a rumour that the Tooronga Malvern coach was relieved of his duties during the week ?? Can anyone from the game yesterday confirm or deny if he was running the show.

Mick Johnson coached yesterday but apparently the previous was relieved of his post mid week. Not sure what benefit that could provide but things must have gone awfully awry. Clayton winning yesterday sends TM into Division 2 you would think. Probably for the best!

Thanks for the heads up, must have been some serious arguing to get rid of a coach with 5 weeks to go, and its not like its his fault they have no cattle to get them anywhere.
Yeah agree its best for them to go back and re asses where their at.:thumbsu:

This weeks predictions after a couple of upsets last week Congratulations to Mordialloc and Clayton on good wins. St. Pauls exposed some chinks in the City armour and can be well pleased with second place as a result. The big winner was East Brighton who have a break of 2 games and 60% odd over the next. Top spot seems to be confirmed. 5 to go so nothing is in concrete just yet.

This week

Dingley to be defeated by St. Pauls easily. The young guys have fallen off at Dingley St. Pauls by 40 points.
Heatherton to lose to Chelsea Heights by 60 points
Tooronga will lose to Clayton. The battle for relegation will go to the Clays. Clayton by 20 points.
StKilda City will avenge their earlier defeat by Cheltenham in a narrow one. City by 4 points
Mordialloc have no chance against the League leaders. East Brighton by 50 points

Chelsea Heights kicked the first four of the game against Dingley and were never threatened over the course of the day. Dingoes really lacked a focal point up forward and may need to address the lack of a key forward if are they are to be a top four challenger in 2012. #9 tried as a key forward and took a couple of decent grabs, but when in the last he tried a shot from 60 on the fence it smelled of someone who wasn't the right fit for a group who had tried to play unselfish football for the most part, however CH's work rate was far superior on the day. Enough signs to suggest Dingley will again improve in 2012 but at the moment they are finding 2011 a few weeks too long. Hope they can find a second wind and run out the season well.

Comical seconds game though. CH got out to a lead but Dingley pegged it back to a three goal game just before 3/4 time. In the last, Dingley's discipline went to pot, giving CH's full forward three shots from the goalline after 50's. That for the last one no Dingley player even bothered to walk back and stand the mark on the line was poor and is something the coach, actually the club, should address. Yes, 50's are frustrating, and yes, the FF did use his hands in the back of the FB, but when teams use the corridor and the umpire is in it, to expect them to have 360 degree vision is perhaps a bit too much to ask.

On an aside, after seeing an all-girl goal umpire/boundary umpire group at Dingley earlier this year, it was good to see a young female in control in the twos game. Well done ladies.

If Adrian Fisher(Play onnnnn!!!!!!!) had been watching the game St Pauls-v-St.Kilda City (Ressies) instead of lecturing a player because he cussed, he may have witnessed a pretty ordinary act committed by a STK City player in the first quarter. In my opinion the gutless act warranted 6-8 weeks. I really thought that this type of player was extinct, but unfortunately not. Back in the ‘good old days’ when king hits were the norm undertaken by cowards who would then spend the rest of the night reliving the cowardly act ad nauseam. I cannot and will not accept that the boundary or goal umpire did not see what occurred as it was right in front of them. It is about time every official at the game be told that they are to report players if they see anything untoward and no longer just leave it to the field umpires. As for Fred Flinstone no doubt his time will come.

Not surprising to see a City player lose the plot when challenged. Happens all the time

Mate at least you had an actual player from city hit someone, our bloke was king hit from behind by the bloody runner ... but you are correct the umps seem to just select some things and ignore others. Our result was witnessed and the runner will no longer play footy as he was suspended yill the end of 2012. Pity yours was missed sounds like he would have received a few weeks.

No coincidence the Saints lost both games? Cowardly efforts both of them but that is the nature of the beast.

The club should have been fined and put on notice and the runner/player should have been fined a hefty sum as well and not reinstated until it was paid.Furthermore the SFL should use the Ammos approach and force a player who serves a long term suspension to apply for a permit to be reinstated.Until he does he cannot play in any competition or hold any official role. The player would have to demonstrate on what grounds he should be admitted to the competition. The League, players and clubs will only start to take these issues seriously when someone is seriously injured or killed and then pasted all over the media.Too late then as the damage is done.Footy is struggling as it is against soccer and these type of incidents do nothing for the image of the game.

Fair comments, i just hope that we fight the season out.

St.Pauls this week will provide a reasonable challenge!!!

From a stkilda city point of view, both incidents are disappointing, but the league s tribunal or judiciary have to take full responsibility as weve had casset have his jaw broken in 3 places and guilty party received 3 weeks & josh oneill was king hit behind the play and received 4 facial fractures and major surgery missed 14 weeks and the guilty party received 4 weeks? and I think and I stand to be corrected but the coward who blindsided kreppy and damaged his spine got 8 weeks downgraded to 4 on appeal or might have been 6 down to 3, that sort of officialdom encourages idiots to do stupid things
Enough said!

Mahalo, I haven't even looked at the season fixture before tonight. I generally just look at it to see if the Heights are at home or nearby for the coming week, but have seen your draw for the run home.

I have no doubt a you could eaisily be forgiven for thinking someone at SFL HQ doesn't like you - that's one brutal run home.

But, I'd suggest this to you. Your club and your coach (one of the Morwood's I believe - which one?) will find out more about your list over the coming weeks than they would if they had a mixed run home and missed the finals by a game or %. 2011 isn't your year, but giving a few players some different responsibilities or a different role for a few weeks and seeing how they go may be what gives the club a few extra weapons for the arsenal in 2012 and beyond.

Not sure what your coach will do, but should the club back him for next year (is he back?) and appreciate while there is a probability that results may not be there as far as the scoreboard is concerned for a few weeks, the club may well hit the ground running in 2012 and surprise the competition. We have disagreed on a few things Mahalo, but you will surely agree, that the signs for 2012 are good for DFC. I saw that on Saturday in enough little patches to know that it's unlikely going to be an 80 point game next year.

(Just don't use the same gameplan that was used in the first meeting at Dingley please - that caused enough argument). ;)

Boys, any chance of Tooronga/malvern staying in Div 1 this year? Massive junior and Auskick programme at their ground - can someone let me know why this not follow through to the senior club. I understand there is no formal connection between the junior and senior club but many other clubs have prospered without a formal connection.
Lastly, why the massive drop off this year? I hear they have plenty to spend as well - or is that not the case also?

Tooronga/Malvern will be going down and they need too
They have to get a better off field plan going so they can get it together on field
But they are like a lot of clubs and haven't got the people to help out

The club rooms upstairs (although not that happy with the power lines above the ground) are great, so as you said they should have some money to get players but they haven't got any at the moment

sorry mate, but this incorrect. I was playing in this game and saw the perfectly legitimate bump whilst Krepp was snapping at goal. The bump affected the kick and Krepp landed heavily on the ground. It was down graded at the tribuneral because we provided photographic evidence which showed the fair bump whilst the ball was being dropped. The umpire didn't even report the incident and he was 5m from the contest. Not one of the lyndale boys remonstrated because they knew it was fair.
Don't name call if you have 3rd hand information, otherwise it just sounds like another Pitman football article.

Hit straight down the middle of the back after he kicked the ball, blindsided does cover it sufficiently. The umpire has given up completely because of this incident and some Lyndale boys did remonstrate, others were concerned with their team mates health.
Please don't try and clean it up, it was an ugly incident that somebody was ultimately found guilty at a tribunal for.

Mate, I saw it and am happy to post the photo of the incident. I didn't see one lyndale player remonstrate. Krepp jogged off the ground.
The result was terrible, dont get me wrong, no one wants too see any one get hurt. But the act itself was fair. It's not like it was 10m off the ball or behind play. Krepp had the ball got bumped which affected the kick. It was in play.

The Auskickers who then end up at East Malvern juniors are mainly private school kids. The best of them end up playing for their school teams in the higher grades of the Ammos - Old Xavs, De La, Old Scotch, St Kevs etc. Very few of the kids coming out of East Malvern Juniors end up at Tooronga Malvern. TM are surrounded by strong VAFA clubs with established U19s and a pathway to seniors. Geographically it is very tough for them to compete.

I saw this too, the meathead number 3 (reserves) from St Kilda City has no place in local football if he is going to king hit people like he did on the weekend.

Cowardly and perhaps a few classes in anger management might help, although by the looks of it there isn't much happening upstairs.

Props to Sammy Dagher though who took him from the field in the second and kept him on the bench for most of it, telling him that there's no place for that in the game.

Clubs need to take responsibility for their own players actions, and look to set a standard for acts like these. Whether it be a club imposed ban (if missed by the umpires like in this instance) or some other way, the onus is on the club to lead by example and set standards on what is and isn't acceptable on the field.

a reserves captain out drinking, and last seen smashed
does this type of behaviour require urgent attention by his club ???:D :) or is it no bussiness of the club what player does in his own time ??

Bit different, one incident happened on the field, the other off it.

Nothing wrong with lots of froffies on the weekend!!

Well after 14 rounds we know that 1 East Brighton are going to finish on top but the next 3 spots are 2 St Pauls 3 St Kilda City 4 Chelsea Heights and this could go anyway
Then the next two are playing for 5th spot this week 5 Cheltenham 6 Dingley
7 Mordialloc and 8 Heatherton are just playing out the year .
Then after the weekend, with one of the biggest turnarounds in a week, who is going to stay in DIV1 out of 9 Clayton 10 Tooronga Malvern

So we still have some great games to come as most teams are still playing for something from getting the second chance, to playing in the finals, or to see who is staying in Div 1.So get along to see some of the best local footy you will see

Its going to be very interesting come finals time... Very good for the SFL league to have such a tight finals series coming up! It will be intersesting to see who stays in Div 1, Toroonga v Mordy will be a HUGE game for the TMs...
