All though not having Juniors has hurt the Clays they haven't had U 18's for years and are running 3 senior sides any way.

The demographics have nothing to do with survival as other sides like Doveton Eagles,Dandenong,Ashwood,OD have never had a junior feeder club and have survived year in year out it all comes down to a good strong committee and a good network of players not necesary a coach brining players a network of mates who want to play at the one club and so on.

If you look at clubs in affluent areas like Highett,Chelt,East Brighton,Black Rock,Caulfield none of those Clubs are running any U 18's on there own due to the fact that the private school factor/Ammo's take over and they still survive quiet well due to good management.

Every Club has there issues no doubt but saying the Clays are struggling due to no juniors isn't right.

Ask your self were do most players live that are on each list and you will find the majority travel a fair distance to play at there chosen club.
Highett is sharing their u/18 with Hampton, I think its about 12 Highett players, the rest are Hampton players, but next year that will change.

Not sure about Chelt, Caulfield can't field 2 teams at the moment

City hAd 5 18s from last year and 2 current 18s in their side on Saturday that beat dingley by 6 goals and have played up to 6 other 18s or just out of eighteens so far this year.
It is definitely paying dividends

Definitely B2B. We have had 15 former juniors in our senior side for most of the year and I think had 14 when we beat your lads. So far we have had eight players from last years Colts or they were eligible for Colts last year play in our seniors this year (5 on the weekend).
Clubs that don't think that developing your own is the best way to go are in deep peril of being non-existant in future years.

Correct, we have been hit with the injury stick, like all clubs but our kids are so good that we are able to cover very well.

We had 3 x Colts aged players listed in our best against City on Saturday. Not only can they play, they are hard at it.

Dingley had 16 players in the 1sts that were or are DFC juniors. The club is the big winner when you develop your own talent.

Great to see something going on in here, plus over 550 views in the last 24 hours is good as well.
Yes I think that you have to have a colts side,as it helps the club grow and yes some years it will be very hard but that is where having a strong admin in place is the key.
But you can 't just leave all the work to just a few people and everyone should help out in some way.

It's getting to the half way point of the year, thought it would be interesting to see peoples team of the year so far??? Hopefully it will be a good discussion point. If the team is to hard to fill by positions, maybe do a squad.

With that team of the year I meant SFL divy 1 not the AFL. Sorry about the confusion, should have been clearer. Keep in mind this side could be balanced for a interleague clash.

Well done, you look to have it right ,Douthie from East would have to be unlucky not to get in.
The trouble would be if we did have a game on, how many of these players would play?
