I assume you would be referring to this? It would seem every man & his dog wants to get to Wedge Rd this year. Then on top of this there are the colts to come in as well. Would nearly be competition favourites now going into Round 1.

Year of the Bomber??

Wouldn't say everyone wants to get there. There is 2 leaving to go to Chelsea Heights and my sources tell me there will be a couple more young blokes to go there. Very big statement about favorites when a ball hasn't been bounced yet. Skye did only finish 7th or so last year.

Re: SFL Div 2 - Part 3

I'm thinking that everyone's train of thought is they are coming down from Div 1 plus they do have a new coach who may bring some Strathmore mates with him. This alone has them favorites for mine.

Also they did pull one out of the bag against your mob last year Homer with a few "ring ins" so who knows what they're capable of

Exactly right mate but i dont think the ring ins will travel all the way from the bush for Divvy 2 (no offence intended ) but ya never know, and it was the highlight of our year to still finish on top of them after that little incident, they were only delaying the inevitable for the last 3 years.:D

Name 1 'ring in' that travelled 'all the way from the bush'

Go on...

Just one...

Lets get the ball rolling!

so which players are standing out on the training track?
Any new players to watch out for in 2012?

tips for the SFL league best and fairest and/or Premiership?
Barring your own club which club do you think will step up?

Shoot away!

Re: SFL Div 2 - Part 3

Springy districts looks like they could be the darkhorse this year..
Recruited a few under the radar

Justin Doust, David Ford & Michael Odachowski all from the MPNFL. What can you tell us about these players?

Are there more to come motorvinnie?

Re: SFL Div 2 - Part 3

Doust is a former U16 All-Australian who would now be 29 going on 30. Very good player in his younger days but has played alot of Reserves footy at Edi Asp over the past few years. Was a Springvale junior from memory, along with Scott Thornton (ex. Freo)

Odachowski is a former club captain at SDFC. Good player.

Ford is an ok player. Played with Devon Meadows last year, a team that really struggled. Played 11 games in the seniors and 5 in the reserves. He's a forward with decent marking and skills.

Re: SFL Div 2 - Part 3

Speaking to a guy at the pub who told me fermanishas signed back at the oaks and elvis will be staying put. Can any oakleigh ppl confirm that? If its true very handy.

I was speaking to a old TM's player and they said the reason they changed the name was that East Malvern Juniors had taken them over.
They should have a bit of money as that club is huge, around 30 teams.
but where are there signings?

Speaking of clearances, I've noticed that Joey Krieger's application for a transfer to Mornington has been denied three times now. What does this mean? Are Black Rock holding him back & if so, why? Are the MPNFL rejecting the transfer? Will he have to stay now at Black Rock - very important player for them

anyone from the southern dragons share how there list is coming along to tackle divvy 2? ....got some third party info that you may have picked up a few handy recruits, and a few more on on the way to have a run this week? could suprise a few in 2012..

Cheers Silva, we are tracking along fine. We have picked up a few new recruits, but have also lost a few key players from last year due to retirement. It is public info that - as a general club rule - we don't pay players, but we know our boys always give 110% because everyone plays for the love of the jumper. Most other clubs have earmarked us to get the spoon, but we're quietly confident we'll be competitive...

Speaking of which, I see Aaron Abela no longer playing at Skye but heading to the Southern Dragons?? How did you score that deal & what steered him away from Skye where he could have a got a few dollars & join you guys who don't pay?

Not having a go, just curious :)

wrong, may of been the case last year but this year is a different story. Good luck to you boys, good bunch of blokes who play footy in the right spirit.

He is very good mates with a fellow Dragon and wants to join a club that is unique, with a distinct social culture. He is NOT being paid. Obviously money talks, but at the end of the day, most players do (and should) choose club / mates over money. Esp in the SFL, where there is chump change thrown around compared to elsewhere. Eg, I'm sure there are many players at Skye that play there because they love the club, not because of $$...

Appreciate your words mate, we all love our footy. Anyway, I understand that everyone can speculate or think what they want, but we're all comfortable in knowing we don't pay our players, and everyone plays for the love of the jumper. Obviously, like any other club, individual players can be 'sponsored' by a small business, but again, we do NOT pay players.

Good luck to you, and your club, too Junior.

Re: SFL Div 2 - Part 3

A few tipping TM to go well. Looking at their form and list last year they would want to get a few players. Would have thought Bentleigh and Springy to be preferred and maybe Oakleigh. Skye could be the dark horse
