The SFL hierarchy is very pleased that two of its registered players have been picked in the AFL draft.
Collingwood can be very pleased with its pick of Bill Morrison who is a player of unbelievable talent – he kicked nine goals on debut for the North Hobart seniors as a 15 year old – but missed the 2003 season with a shoulder injury, after he sustained it in the International Rules series earlier in the year. He was picked at number 17 while registered Clarence player Cameron Thurley, classed as a hard-running midfielder who had a fine year with Tasmania in the VFL, was a great story, as he was a 50/50 chance and was thought to go late in the draft. He went at number 22 to Geelong. Also picked from the Devils/Mariners was Alex Gilmour who played all his junior football with Sorell prior to moving to the North of the state. Alex is a young midfielder, who continued to grow in stature in recent times
