I think they have forgotten their core product - men's football.

They have placed enormous energy in netball and women's football. I'm not opposed to any of these things but there were no extra resources for it. The staff levels at HQ remain about the same.

If they want this diversity, fund it and support it. If it cant pay for itself - get rid of it.

Well if you have the love of the game at heart willing to do the right thing by all clubs then don't apply

You'd think a love of the game combined with strong business acumen would put someone in good stead? I get what you're putting down, bit like politics, those who want to do the right thing often don't last.

Serious question, how does one get onto the SFNL board?

When David Coutts resigned from the board, an advertisement went out seeking expressions of interest for a treasurer & someone experienced in digital marketing. Clicking on the links & reading the role description, the advertisement suggested that they required someone from a corporate background first & not much in relation to being linked to local football. Is this so the Chairman & Vice Chairman of the SFNL board would rarely be challenged on footballing issues & the direction they wish to take the league? Maybe I'm reading into it wrong

Lets look at the SFNL Board & their affiliation:
Marc Gauci - Chairman http://sfnl.com.au/board-members/marc-gauci - East Malvern
Gary Cranny
Vice Chairman http://sfnl.com.au/board-members/garry-cranny-vice-chairman/ - Caulfield Bears
Jonathon Adams
http://sfnl.com.au/board-members/jonathan-adams/ - Old Melbournians (played 1 year at St Pauls)
Athena Greenall-Wilson http://sfnl.com.au/board-members/athena-greenall-wilson/ no club affiliation (elite netball)
Courtney Morath
http://sfnl.com.au/board-members/courtney-morath/ Kew Rovers/Kew Bears
Lee Norman http://sfnl.com.au/board-members/lee-norman/ Mentone Adult Riding Club
Richard Smith http://sfnl.com.au/board-members/richard-smith/ Old Brighton Grammarians

Is there anything glaringly obvious about the list above?

I think appointments and decisions made by afl vic recommendation of recent times have been far from successful so that wouldn’t be the way to go. They have more problems than our comp.

And the player points debacle was not Palmers fault. The policy was coming for 2 years before it was enforced this year and our comp had no idea how to administer it and had done zero preparation. I would imagine he would have been stunned to walk into that storm which was well and truly upon us before he started.

I do agree that HQ needs some more people with recent footy experience in key posts like CEO.

I think some club representation at board level would be great also.

They could do worse than asking Adam sparrow to take the wheel.

Strong rumour around is that 2 key media personalities with strong ties to their clubs will be considering joining the board. One has a Ton of experience and the other is sniffing around like a hound.

New hey?

You sure you just aren’t the confident Parkf00ty who was asking where finals were going to be played in div 2 first week of a new thread being opened up?
It’s just that we only seem to hear from Port Colts when things are going good. Parkf00ty gone missing for 2 years
All good Hack Was I wrong asking that question? I’ve dropped off that’s true life moves on mate
Our 2s went well this year though so that’s great
Lindsay is a great move forward But starting from a long way back Looking at getting Chad Wingard lol

The Gilbee effect would be working wonders for the club - great investment even though it wouldn't be costing the club all that much. Well done Port Colts. Would Jase Perkins be one of those players? could build a team around a power forward in this comp

p.s. Great to have you posting again

"Hartman has a great understanding of the community Football/Netball landscape and the challenges that go with that. He was an inaugural member of the AFL Victoria Community Club Sustainability Program (CCSP) Player Points System Policy (PPSP) & Salary Cap statewide sub-committee that helped develop the policies."

this is a reassuring appointment for most clubs in the SFNL. Part of me thinks this was an AFL Victoria appointment and the last bloke got tapped on the shoulder. Hartman will start next week not in a month before the season starts for under the table deals for some clubs like last year. Anyway some faith has been restored
