SFNL Div 1 2021

I wish they had called it off earlier . we have been training and trying to keep motivated believing the league it will go ahead for so long, so if or when it is cancel is going to be a bigger let down for us now than if it was 5-6 weeks ago. Just p*ssed off now with the league

Not sure I agree with this entirely. If we hadn’t had a spike of cases and the cases kept reducing - we’d be playing.

I have disagree with this. After lockdown, training and socialising twice a week has been fantastic! I'm stoked the league has tried to push on for as long as possible, as the motivation has helped take my mind off the other things happening at the moment.

I would love to play but if we can't - I hope we can continue training for for as long as possible.

It was always going to be a possibility. I agree though hindsight is wonderful but in a world where we have complete uncertainty atm, the league could have done the right thing by its members and made a call weeks ago when the other metro leagues did.

Would have saved so many people the headaches about organising training sessions that met Covid guidelines etc.

Whilst we all want a local football season to go ahead, clearly this year it was not going to be appropriate. It takes courage to make the early call, some may have been against it but I dare say the majority would have understood the reason behind it and supported the decision.

This is what happens when you drag it out for so long, unfair on the players, volunteers, coaches, club people and most importantly their families.

When are we gonna get an announcement or does king dick wanna be the last league left standing before a decision is made?

These are the latest Protocols from the Government released last night. Doesn’t sound like they are against comps going ahead? It’s now whether there are enough teams wanting to play.

Only spectators allowed are those necessary to support participation (not sure how you police that)

Chagerooms only used for injuries and toilet use- no team gatherings. Hope we get a warm dry August

The Ammo's have pulled the pin on their season, which is the smartest thing to do. All of these cleaning protocols will have to be implemented next year. Time the local councils started providing staff to help out during the week and on game day. They have enough money in their budgets to fund overseas junkett's, it is about time they started putting their hands in their pocket and to look after their constituents. Some of the clubrooms leave a lot to be desired in terms of sanitary standards, and most of the toilets probably don't operate properly. The CEO's and local councillors will always find a way to try and push all of these problems back onto the clubs, but it is a health issue and they have to step up, as does the State and Federal Govt's and provide the necessary grants. Councils are quick to send around inspectors with their thermometers inspecting refrigerators and pie warmers, and trying to catch out clubs without liquor licenses. Now it is time to step up. They have been extorting rate payers ridiculous amounts in rates, now they need to show leadership.

Yeah it’s done.
Oakleigh, Highett and StPauls gone from div1
Keysborough, HP and Heatherton from div2
BlackRock, Mornington and South Yarra gone from div3
Not sure about Div4 but I’d guess they’d be worse off?

Wasn't East Malvern not mentioned earlier in the thread as a team that had pulled out? Or is that unofficial?

Be interesting to see recruitment over summer with the new 100k cap. The lower cap may well bring about the end of guys traveling to country clubs for huge coin. I reckon it might bring some very handy players back to metro footy.

The latest rumour is no open age but still going with u/19s. Hope they fixture it so cricket can start on time

And I’m sure it is, So heading onto the SFNL website to see if any announcement we see...sh*t, ..hold the press, hold the press!! ..Moorabbin Football Club seeks a Sports Trainer for SEASON 2020.
