He might be alluding to the fact that Jon Edgar (former coach of St Kevins and Glen Eira) has apparently been given the reins at East Brighton, maybe with the hope that he will bring a few players from Old Brighton where his son plays. The Vampires might lose a few players in the off-season due to the mid-season coaching change so the appointment might help the boys from the Nepean Highway.
Jon seems like a good choice.
I have it from a reliable source the Vampires should have sacked their previous coach long before they did.
They were warned prior.
South Caulfield cricket club parted company (sacked ) with him after winning the flag back in March after 1 year in the job

Wasn't sacked by SCCC FYI

The Bentleigh–Brighton game today was a great contest. Mitch Smart is an absolute freak, and Andrew Walker dominated at stoppages — he’s a genuine star clearance player. Things aren’t looking good for the Vampires though; if anything, they seem worse than last year despite spending a huge amount on their current squad.

On a positive note, great to see Kinsella and his young Beena group get a strong win over Cranbourne. After going from Division 3 to Division 1, it would’ve been a real shame to see them drop back down.

Fingers crossed Malvern can come up and keep things local.

was a fantastic game though Bentleigh probably should've won by more. Dominated most of the play but just couldn't really convert when they did go forward

Left at half time. Impressed with the new facilities, Impressed with the way Dingley ran the ball into the wind in the 2nd quarter. Not surprised that they broke the game open in the 2nd half. Narre usually run out of legs.
Thought Narre were very good. Just couldn't get the ball in the last

Great weekend of footy! Top 5 looks to be pretty much set. If Springvale beat EB next week (which many would expect) that creates an 8 point buffer. EB also have Cheltenham and St Pauls. They seem to be in free fall at the moment so I'm unsure I see another win coming from them this year.

Down at Jack Barker yesterday. Cheltenham simply a class above Port all day. Port's top end can match it with anyone but from watching yesterday, their bottom 6-8 players just aren't there yet unfortunately. They should stay up - just need to beat Cranbourne next week to send them down to Division 2- but depth must be their priority for next season. The Rosellas quietly picking up steam I feel. Will finish 3rd but will expect them to give Dingley a real shake.

I don't even think the biggest optimist would have predicted Bentleigh to be playing finals this year. With the coach re-signing for next season and their youth seemingly improving by the week, I think they have set the foundations for a sustained period in the top half of the ladder in future seasons.

Pleased to see Murrumbeena all but secure their survival for the season too. Been competitive in nearly all games and they must have been happy to pick up a win away from home. There's a few aging bodies in their best 22 that they may need to improve on for next season.

And what was happened down at Cranbourne? 100 points down at 3qtr time last week, now a 10 goal loss in their biggest game for the season. They'll drop down but I expect them to recruit hard and steam roll Division 2 next year.

I reckon Beena will blood a few 19s now they are safe

Apparently port missing around 12
senior players. So depth has been more than tested.

Cal Cathcart is the umpire provided by Springy Districts, knows his footy and obviously could play. I first hand observed the game and it was fairly firey from the get go, only 10 minutes elapsed both sides were willing and it did look as though at a few times it could have gotten out of hand so I don't blame Cal for calling it. I won't say anything further but the league appointed umpire needs to pull his head in.......

Springy club president came out to ensure nothing escalated and did a great job on that front.

After so many knee injuries good to see Cal give something back to the game
