SFNL Div 2 2021

Key point is depth.
To be competitive in Div 1 you need a list that can get you through the June/July period especially. When injuries role in and your top 14-32 become critical.
Having said that, Springy also have a few bearing retirement, so they might lose a fair bit of experience too. Who every gets promoted will find it a challenge the first year but the key is to remain in Div1 and not yo-yo back down. Pretty excited to see how the finals pan out, I agree with many of you that it’s a lot more even then some (including myself at times) think.
One out of left field though, Parkdale - rumour is they are a lock for SFNL in 2022. Do they come into Div 2 or Div 3?
Leave it to them.

Rumour about Parkdale is just that, not happening at this stage. If they were to change, then Div -2 , but wouldn't contemplate Div -3
They are getting belted in B Grade, and C Grade will be no better for them. The merger from a few years back seems to have run its course.
They are fortunate in that they do not have much traveling to do in this Grade compared to some other Grades. The incentive will be that they can pay players without going thru the charade that the Ammo clubs go through.

I think you are under estimating their efforts this season, granted they have copped some beltings and were under no illusions at the start of the season after a unexpected exodus of players. Covid, work, etc etc has had a big bearing, plus the $$$$$$$ offered up to some players from SFNL, MPFNL, and players playing in Queensland. The decision to stay in VAFA will be player driven and if they do play in C Grade they will be more than competitive with already at least 6 senior players returning, plus a season under their belts for a number of quality U-19's. You are correct about the travelling component which does come into consideration, but they will still have the local rivalry games with a couple of clubs in and around the area or close to it. Its called re-building which at times every club has to do it, you only have to look at the great Collegians AFL in Premier A to see that they could be in B Grade next season after offering up their usual spool on recruits, jobs for the boys etc etc. The club is very well run, great introduction with Netball teams plus a woman's footy team and a good bunch of 19's coming through. I'd suggest a tilt at a flag in C Grade is very much in their plans.

Excellent observation and from watching Premier B and SFNL Div 1 who would pay players in this environment to compete at a lower standard, a spell in C Grade is not the end of the world

GF on AFL grand final weekend? Surely not. Season looking unlikely to be finished I reckon.

I think the season is over. Lockdown will last another two weeks at least. There are rumours that we will go into a hard lockdown with all stores except Supermarkets to close and exercise limited to 1 hour per day.

Are you reading Kennetts tweets
No, just doing the math...Can't see us coming out of lockdown in the next 3-4 weeks. Then you have the issue that teams have not trained and are then expected to go into a finals series. Then you have the issue of grounds and councils and cricket.
