A brief today from Highett who did the unthinkable. As has been seen a few times this season opened with all guns blazing in the first, should've been in front by a lot more - then thought they had done enough for the day. Some passages of play resembled kick to kick as both sides decided to share the ball with precise passing to direct opponents. Highett's brainfades were plentiful, inexplicable and more costly allowing Doveton back in the game. I had to leave midway 20 mins into the final quarter so I can't share anything beyond that apart from that i'm not surprised at the result, with Doves gaining the momentum in general play helped by the fact that Highett had a few key players injured within a short space of time.

Are you saying Heighett are no good?

From what i've seen so far, it's fair to say they'd most likely finish middle order or just miss finals. They can put together a good quarter or 2 even against top teams, but are lacking the 4 quarter consistency. Should've destroyed HP, EM and taken the points against Caulfield. Definitely have some talent in the side but their playing style is somewhat chaotic and needs a little more structure to maintain control of the ball. Injuries are starting to take a toll as well.

This week, we will kind of see where everyone stands. Everyone will have played each other once.
Interesting first 9 weeks of footy for the 1s and 2s.

I think highets best match's it with anyone but just to inconsistent.
Watching HP, I felt they were well drilled and felt better than EM, but you never know finals time.
Few middle range teams sitting there about.
CH one of them.

2s reflect the 1s really at the top of the ladder.
Means both teams travelling well. Need a good base to fall back on if injuries occur.

EH are a rabble on and off the field.

A guy on site yesterday said he went down to watch his best mate play for Endeavour on the weekend and said EH own supporters were behind the goals during the seniors game, abusing players, trying to fight the crowd and looked like they were doing coke mid game.
He was parked right next to them watching the game and couldnt believe it
Apparently these blokes looked the part too.

Must have been his first time at a local footy match then? Sounds like most senior matches I played (and some 2s games as well, if the 19s stuck around to get on the cans)

Though to be honest I'd have expected to only see blokes racking lines in the richer burbs like St.KC, or maybe Hampton. Maybe there was a dealer giving the stuff away on the cheap at overport?

If you read it he said EH own supporters were abusing EH players nothing to do with dolphins

A brief from Highett V Chelsea Heights, barring a disaster run with injuries or form, you can pencil in CH as a genuine contender for the flag. By far the quickest side i've seen so far this season caught Highett off guard from the start and made the most of the wind in the first which was enough to get the job done. HT tightened up after that but are still giving away too many 50s each game. If they can curb this habit alone it might get them somewhere. 22 for CH might have a case to answer at the tribunal for a dangerous tackle 25min 2nd qtr which he was yellow carded for.

CH very well drilled and structured, benefitting from an extended run in Div 1

Yeah I'm guessing a couple of weeks for that tackle

Ladder starting to take form isn't it. Finals is anyone's games I think the bottom 3 are most likely done. (Endeavour Hills, Doveton & Frankston) depending on this week's results I'd say.

Think Frankston still a chance of playing finals Doveton probably to far behind now and e/hils seem to have fallen apart since beating H/P and look like being relegated might come down to depth players seem to miss more games this time of the year but on some of the results this year who knows seems it’s the most even Div 2 for years

Feel for Ehills when all of their depth players are chasing a flag in the 3s because they've shit the bed 3 seasons in a row in the 2s! cowards
