whats the verdict on the two div 1 sides that are dropping down this year. Have seen some activity from mordialloc probably more than chelsea. Doubt either will do a double drop but competition does seem quite competitive this year.

Hard to say so far. Chelsea Heights have kept a similar team from last year, so will hold there own. Tapscott will dominate. Will be near the mark for finals.

Mordi are a tough one. Were terrible last year, and lost there best player Nick Grech. Have picked up multiple players, fair few ex players as well. So will definitely help, but very hard to chuck a shipload of new players together and hope for them to gel straight away. I dont believe they will be in relegation territory, but I can't see them challenging either.

And alot of the players Mordi have gotten back are 30+ of age

Is tapscott a certainty to be playing another year. Heard mixed messages around how keen he was to go again after last season

Have heard similar about Hampton Park, great numbers. Bully is doing a great job so far.

East Malvern look to be solid, great recruiting and seem to have retained most players. Will be top 2 I'd imagine.

Caulfield retained whole list and getting mid 30s to training. I believe have taken Murrumbeenas best ruck and a few returning guns coming back.

Doveton I believe there's frustration due to not recruiting well this off season and also have lost 2 or 3 of there best players.

Mordi seem to have great numbers, have recruited a heap of players. Most are returning older players, don't know if it will make a big enough differenxe with how far behind they were.

Haven't heard much about chelsea heights, keysy, frankston or highett though

Spoke to a mate at Caulfield and the ruck they picked up from Beena played finals in their reserves after playing seniors most of the year so they don’t have high expectations that’ll he’ll move the needle.

The bears seemed to have also lost Stait to Ormond, the long time serving presidents son, probably not suprising as they haven’t ever had a 19s program and never seem to recruit overly well they are probably destined for another 5th-9th finish in D2 like the last decade+

I think they'll be around the mark of 4th-7th just judging by all they seem to have lost is Stait, whilst also picking up Beenas best ruckman, another good reserves player from Noble Park, a recruit from Sunshine who won back to back league 18s best and fairests, with another team of the year forward James Backman coming back as well. I also believe they've snagged a couple from Wodonga as they have good ties there. I dont see them winning the flag, but with Lynden Dunn also not coming off a knee reco this year they definitely won't be easy beats.

Staits brother has played for Ormond for 10 years +

Young fella got injured just before finals and wasn’t 100 percent playing ressies finals had a very good year. Ballard isn’t the best mover around the ground Henry has a tank on him will be a upgrade from one of there bottom half players

Yeh I don't believe the loss of Stait from Caulfield will make a difference either way. I believe Caulfields ins far out way there outs. So will be interesting.

Ins and outs

Any truth about last years League medalist heading across to Dingley??
That would be huge if that did happen. Not sure how Dingley could afford anything more after there massive off season in recruiting, much the same as Springvales. Would be 2 massive losses for Doveton though. I know Johnson has huge family ties to Doveton, would be very surprised if he left..

Yes Johnson will be playing at Springvale this season. Word is he walked in off the street

I heard him and Ingaliso both off but to Springvale
Wow ! That would mean Ingaliso Smith x2 Ricky and muirhead have all gone with nothing coming back in.

What is the point of hiring an inexperienced coach Internally unless he creates a strong culture and can have strong player retention. Maybe they should have stuck it out with Cardamone.

The under 19s in the area have all suffered. Musical chairs with Ormond winning out. Not enough footy kids with the Chinese moving in and those who are there play school footy by under 19s. But it means Caulfield won't be replenished by their young crop, so they have gone out and head hunted a few. Still, some of theirs have been head hunted as well. It really seems to be a bit of a merry go round for players between those local clubs.
