Cranny enjoying Southern because of the even comp. The way they were treated by some MPNFL clubs and their reps may influence any decision their board makes to apply to MPNFL again. But, you have to take that out of any consideration when it comes to taking what is the best option for the long term success and survival of the club. Don't cut your nose off to spite your face! This is where a few years back the MPNFL missed their opportunity i believe, they let emotions and blinkered view, get in the way of a making a long term plan that would have benefited the League and made them one of Vic Country Powerhouses alongside the O&M.
MPNFL new club entrants voted by clubs thus self interest jumps in v SFNL where board votes. The board maybe doesn’t get right all the time but at least from a view of what’s best for comp.

The old SEFNL clubs were the ones who cut off their nose to spite their face. They were a part of that comp and told them to shove it and went out on their own. A few years later the SEFNL comp was stuffed and they wanted to get back into the MPNFL. It’s not surprising that they weren’t warmly welcomed back.

Also, clubs should have a vote on who is welcomed into their league. The board is supposed to represent the best interests of their member clubs, not have the ultimate power to force decisions upon them. Works pretty well in the EFNL for example. Clubs applying to get in have to present their case in front of the member clubs and prove that they will be a great addition. No entry unless it’s a very strong case and an overwhelming yes vote.

Why should they have to let in clubs way outside the traditional local catchment of their comp if they don’t want to.

There would be a few on here that would be screaming if all the sefnl clubs landed here and took over half of Div 1 with the existing SFNL clubs having no say in the matter. (Personally I reckon it would have been a great boost to this comp)

City of Casey includes Devon Meadows, are they way outside the traditional catchment area? So going by your logic, Devon Meadows should be arseholed from MPNFL! Or is it what only suits best at the time?

Let's look at right here and now and what it can look like in 10 years time, circumstances have evolved for both sides in the last 5 years and maybe the MPNFL can get their status back as the powerhouse League in Victoria.

MPNFL have opened it to ALL clubs that fall into the 4 LGA's they have nominated, if Cranbourne do apply and that is a big IF, then i believe they would be a top-middle of table Div 2 team, if others such as Skye, Mornington South, Franskston Dolphins, Lyndhurst decide to move then clubs such as Tyabb, Crib Point, even Rye etc who at present who are struggling, could form a 3rd Div. You could have a 10, 10, 8 comp to start and then attract more interest.

From i understand, Narre are committed to SFNL for 2024 (verbal, nothing in writing as yet) and with Cranbourne enjoying the SFNL comp, i doubt that there will be enough interest by clubs to join MPNL, maybe if they lucky a 10,8,8. comp.

My logic? Never mentioned any local council boundaries.

I’m saying clubs should have a vote on who joins their comp and each club should be assessed on their individual circumstances.

The SFNL basically took voting rights away from clubs without any consultation with its members.

That's why there needs to be a new competition

Narre will not enter Southern. They are all in for MPFNL

I don’t know anything about Narre Warren but am told by people at Cranbourne that they are very happy in the SFNL and are not looking to go anywhere. They like the comp and see it as their long term home.

Don’t believe everything you are told . They will apply to join MPFNL

Well if they did want to join I can’t see them applying and going through the same process that has proven so pointless. I’d be telling the MPFNL to sort it out and let me know if they want me in.

heard that both clubs will throw hat into ring. I believe Narre have been enquiring every year....
If MPNFL and their clubs are serious about a 3rd division they will need to have 6-8 clubs want to join. Not sure how much interest they have previously had, may have to take the two former SEFNL clubs.

City might be looking for a comp

The clear out at St Kilda City continues with Madi Andrews leaving.

Interesting one, when he “retired” from Berwick he told any club that asked that he was done and not interested in playing.

Next minute he bobbed up at SKC because “he lived close”.

Now the SKC money is gone and he’s gone to Dromana to play with his brother for a couple more years.

Really interesting few weeks forming all around the ladder.
No one would have had City for the drop at round 1 but there's a key player leaving every few days at the moment. Currently tied last with Mordi.... Mordi been playing some decent footy last couple weeks against quality opposition so if they can sneak a win in the next couple weeks it could be curtains for City. The two play each other on 8th July in what's shaping up to be game of the round already. Chelsea and Bentleigh just need to keep playing the way they have been recently and a couple more wins will come for both.

2 great local rivalries this week. Mouth watering contest at the top...
Dingley V Chelt in what could be a grand final preview (I wouldn't count out Cranbourne however). Dingley flying but nearly got pipped in the upset of the year last week Vs Bentleigh. Cheltenham seem to be in cruise control but expect both teams to show up this week.
St Pauls taking on Bentleigh just up the road. Doggies need the win to stay in touch with finals however the Demons have been building slowly by the looks of things.
Backing in..
PORT V CITY comfortably
CRANBOURNE V CHELSEA 8 goals
ST PAULS V BENTLEIGH in a tight one
DINGLEY V CHELTENHAM hearing dingoes have a lot in europe
SPRINGVALE V MORDI should be comfortable enough
Here's to a great week of local footy !

I thought Bennell was going to Wodonga, clearance was to there.

He played against Harvey-Brunswick-Leschenault last Sunday.
You can't see the full article but you can get the gist from what is readable.

As you most likely know was cleared from Port Colts to Wodonga on the 8th June,it seems unable to make up his mind where to play.

What has gone wrong at City, list wasn’t that much different from h the team that played finals last year and now all the big names are jumping ship as it sinks.
