Terrific news.

Have had my own doubts over his place but his skills, versatility and maturity are so out of proportion with what we paid for him.

Great find by JMac and credit to Biggsy for taking his chance and running with it. Hopefully there's a long Bulldogs career ahead of him.

Love Biggsy's work and the way he has improved his defensive game. Rapt that he's signed on, I bet he's loving the continuity he gets under Bevo. Amazing what consistent playing time can do. Even when he does make a mistake he now seems to win the ball back again afterwards by reading the play and zoning off properly. Keep up the good work!

Anyone know much about the bloke? Seems to get along well with the other dogs players in a short amount of time.

Also looks like he has a bit of the Libba 'no ****s given' attitude towards life. Still, a good player.

Wasn't such a big fan of him when he came in last year, felt his kicking wasn't the strength it was being talked about as and made a few errors under pressure. But his kicking has improved significantly and it looks like he has ironed a few other things out of his game. Could be a bit shout for most improved in the comp if he keeps on with it.

And I see him listed as 183cm, but I've heard elsewhere that he's closer to 190cm? Anyone know what his actual height is?

Listed as 187cm.

Congrats to Biggsy. Probably his first decent contract of his career. Worked hard and is clearly a best 22 player now.

Always nice to see fringe players get and make the most of their opportunities and be rewarded with continuity on the field and a bit of security off it. Just have to tip the hat for blokes who are prepared to work their bums off for a chance.

Hope he still plays hungry.

I really like this guy. Defends incredibly well in the air and is super smart cutting off angles and closing down space.

Love that he often takes the riskier/more difficult kick. I'll take the odd turnover if he's going to keep cutting back through the middle the way he does.

With all these re-signings late last year and more recently, when do we start contemplating which players will be exiting at the end of the year? We have such a strong list, unlike previous years, we don't seem to have any standout candidates. Whose contract runs at the end of the year? Will Clay be given this year to prove himself? Will Big Wilbur be pushed out by Campbell and the recent good form of Roughy. Why about Boydy, he's having a noticeably slower start to 2016. Anyone else?

Oh!... And congrats Biggsy, it's always such a bonus when a "speculative" pick surprises.

I think end of the year will be Minson Traded/Retired.
Boyd Retired.
Hrovat Traded. (Like him but we have plenty of small players and could get us a good pick)
Honeychurch traded.
Clay Smith - Depending how he goes may be rookied. I think the club will give him the chance to prove himself.

Yep, he is coming along well and may not play heaps this year, I think will be rotated a bit, but him and Hamling are being prepared for the future, when I hate to say it, Boyd and Murphy hang up their boots. Hopefully when that time arrives they are able to just step which already seems to be a happening.

I like the lad too, yeah he makes the odd mistake but he takes the game on. You only learn from the mistake when it happens so hopefully he can continue to develop his game & become a damaging member of the permanent back 6

Awesome news. Biggs is the WD40 for our back line, everything just runs smoothly when he's around. Always running behind our backs giving them another option.

After Hunter re-signed I went back and looked over last year stats and remembered that we went through a form slump mid year with close games vs StK, Bris, Carlton ending with a loss to Geelong. Then for our next game vs the Pies Bevo brought in Biggs (VFL) and Hunter (was sub or VFL up until then) who proceeded to rack up 28 and 32 disposals respectively as we put the Pies to the sword. Then for the next 4 games Hunter racked up 32, 36, 31 and 28 disposals whilst Biggs racked up 28, 22, 27 and 24 as we destroyed the Pies, Bombers, Port and Melbourne by massive margins, and the rest is history. I think you could mount an argument to say that the inclusion of Hunter and Biggs into our 22 (as well as going from 2 ruck men to 1) was the turning point of our season and maybe even our team in general.

PS. Can we stop mentioning Tom Boyd every time we re-sign one of our boys?

no because he is destroying the very fiber of this club with his boydness!

I even mention him in Athens, when talking to my fellow Athenians. Yesterday for instance I went to my local souvlaki shop and ordered two LambBoyds with tzatziki sauce.

Shane Biggs seriously?
I'll tell you what i think,
hes either going to play 150+ games and be among the core group every week
or he will be traded to Richmond ;)

Shane Biggs is an example of targeting a mature aged player
from a club with sound principals and an excess of talent in
the midfield, Koby Stevens is another it is great to see these
guys establishing themselves in the best twenty two. When
you add Matthew Suckling as a free agent and the two DFA's
in Joel Hamling and Jed Adcock that is some sound targeted
recruiting for the now and the future.

Excellent news.
Doubt we'd have committed much in the way of $$ to his contract but he's the kind of player you need to go deep in finals. Versatile, neat skills and someone not afraid to take the game on. I'd be worried if he was one of the main guys in defense but someone with his skill set that is just ignored by the opposition because they have to focus on JJ, Murph, Boyd is invaluable.
