Clay was before my time but then again he must be before most peoples time on here so Im not sure how anyone can make a comparison.

The way Richmond supporters talked about the "Barrott Bourke Clay" center line makes it rediculous to put Edwards in that category. He is a bloke doing an admirable job in finding a place in a team in the bottom end of the ladder.

Dont see any comparison that can be taken seriously.

The only comparison made by the OP was Edwards looks like Dick Clay.

Dick Clay is a Richmond Legend. The story was we got him down from Kyabram with the lure of a 'new set of wheels'.

Yep that says it all.

I have been critical lof Shane as he is frustrating to watch at times.

Nobody would be happier if he actually came good with his disoposal.

I wonder if they need to (or already do) kicking drills where he has to sprint with the ball with someone like Jake King chasing behind him and make him pinpoint passes onto forwards chests.

Train with pressure on.

If he could do that then he'd be a massive asset.... if.

Do you think Hardwick sees Edwards as a Chance Bateman type? Hard running wingman who takes the game on and can kick/create goals. I thought Edwards was very good in our patch of 3 straight wins. He can be very damaging especially on bigger grounds where he has space and I think he compliments the likes of Cotchin, Martin, Houli, Jackson, Lids, King and Nahas etc. I think when the Doggies beat us they got a big edge by taking him out of the game in the first minute. Think he will only get better and rise as we do.

I watched Clay play many times, Shane does run with the style of Dick Clay but certainly not the talent as yet.

Edwards was superb in patches, would have him in the bests not worsts

(was at the game so I did miss quite a bit with my beanie pulled over my face what with a million total fk ups I couldnt bear watching - not many Shanes.)

What is the matter with his size? His size allows him to be quicker and more nimble than many of his oponents. FWIW he is taller than cousins, Boomer Harvey & Sam Mitchell. If he was playing on a KP player then fair enough but he plays on mid sized players and more than breaks even.
