Anyone got a link? The article is no longer working on the AFL website? It's listed as Oct 14 so maybe it will appear then.

Disagree but thats OK , its why were all here. Id put Brown well ahead of him football skill , and bit ahead on talent but ... thats like having a fridge and pantry full of ingredients , and not knowing or having the willingness to use them.

Right now i see him as a very good chance to be another Tenace , as in , an early pick wasted.

Tenace was limited in SKILL, great pace at times, but another with indecision, poor disposal, and nqr.
Brown is highly skilled.
I watch all of NM games out of interest and followup for all the Eastern boys who play there- Thompson is highly skilled- their best mark and decision maker, fast, rarely beaten, how does that transfer to less skill than Brown? Scott has a nice kicking action, and if any area needed action, that was it, and that is now a strength.
Only debating this because many non NM people think similarly, that ST is a dour defender; far from it, I look forward to watching him, exciting winner, WISH WE HAD HIM.

which is what a few of us were calling for since about round 15.

I know at least one person who frequents this forum who has been calling for it before the season started.

Seems someone jumped the gun boobsy. Guess it will reappear on the due date.

Does the team need a full preseason to "rejig" a setup?. Cause I agree teh brave move would have been to alter the setup ,

Pretty sure we were able to change our whole game style from October 2006 to March 2007

Jack Darling: 191cm, 91kg
Shane Kersten: 190cm, 94kg

Up to this point they're the exact same player. :p

I knew Kersten was a big unit, but to compare those stats just underlines it; he's wrecking-ball size already and physically ready to play next year.
His confidence in his ability should see him make a decent impact next year, and he should be aiming to surpass Pods' contribution this year - 33 goals from memory, and around 18-20 games (Pods played 23).

Hamling 194/82, Blicavs 198/95, Kersten 190/94, Walker 196/91, Vardy 198/101, Brown 196/92.

And then a nice addition of mid sized players like Thurlow 190/80, Murdoch 190/85, Smedts 190/83 and Menzel 188/90.

Always felt one of the keys to Stevie J's success was his deceptive size, able to beat direct opponents forward because of his aerial prowess and so good as a small.

You make some really good points for a N00b! Keep posting. :thumbsu:

I don't remember when but sometime in the VFL GF he just destroyed a pack of about 7 blokes. It was amazing!
He was singing this the entire time....

We clawed, we chained, our hearts in vain

We jumped, never asking why....

I came in like a wrecking ball
I never hit so hard in love
All I wanted was to break your walls

Give him a break, he comes from WA.

My mail is that this year is the year for him.
Got some outside attention late int he year but wants to be Cat - needs his time to be now however. Hence the 1 yr deal.

I fully believe he will make the Pods spot his own this year. Will never forget Pods, but you will talking about Kersten for a long time as another Wells special..

Give him 18-22 games and let him play.

GO Catters

I am a bit more conservative than most here on Kersten.

He was highly rated in the draft but slipped thru to our third pick by memory.

I saw the game that was used here to show his highlights and they were good but then I watched him in the GF and he hardly touched the ball. That worries me a bit. Sure the ball did not come down all that often but you need to impose yourself when the team is down and needs you.

Has the body and height for a third tall forward - and just hope the GF was an aberration for him.

Much depends on Hawkins - how well he recovers for next season - if he does not Kersten will get plenty of games. If Hawk is ok then he may play AFL less often. GFC will use Vardy as KPF and Walker too, at different times. We look a bit top heavy if we don't get another quick player to help out Motlop now Chappy is gone. Maybe need Murdoch and Caddy down there. But was hoping to see Caddy play more midfield next season.

From what I have read McCarthy is quick and a good small. Maybe he maybe used if over his stress fractures.
