Maybe that is Scott's specific plan - to have a young key position player who can genuinely play at either end. Be a nice option to have.
Joel Hamling is just as likely to be that man at this point.

Agree, like a Lachie Henderson at Carlton.
He has become their MVP, imo, and although not expecting that from Brown, I'd love to see him be an indispensable because of his value fwd AND back.

He wouldn't be debuting in Alice as he played NAB Cup last year

Rainfall, he played 3 nab cups last year.

And I've been to Alice at least 6 times. Nothing wrong with it.

Yeah there is. Cruising around in open top jeeps for one :)

Been to Tennant Creek?
That's the definition of nothing right with it. Although it does have a servo which helps you get as far away as possible.

hope he becomes a weapon. The vfl granny wasnt that encouraging though.
Did u see any of the 41 goals in the other 13 games last year or is he getting potted for one average game in which he was hurt for 3/4's?

Just saying…

Did they sub him?

not to say hes not a beast in the VFL but geelong did smash the shit out of a lot of teams, and with that alone the volume that it came into the forward line wouldve helped a heap

No less encouraging for any VFL player that day with the exception of Josh Walker. I thought that he was the only player who seemed unfazed by Box Hill's "unsociable" football.

still gotta kick them once you get it..

And he was not subbed in the GF

Take you point on Walker as an example of effort. He does not stop trying in any position where he can make it to the contest.

However, Kersten, on THAT day, was hurt and kept playing thru it as best he could. So yes, on THAT day, next to Walker who was doing his thing, Kersten looked down.

It's kind of like having you type your posts one handed and comparing your speed to a legal stenographer and us criticizing you for being slow.

Makes no sense.

Just depends on how injured he was. I cannot comment because I don't know the answer to this important question.

If he was seriously he would not have been on the park. So he must have been able to play above the
50 % level.

It would explain his lack of performance but less so his lack of intensity.

If he was however only carrying a small injury that just hampered him a bit then the criticism would be more valid.

Comparing a professional typist to a badly injured non professional (typist) is a crazy comparison IMO.

The reality was - to compare a professional football player in someway injured to another professional footballer who was not injured. It all depends on the nature and depth of injury I would suggest.

Many on this Board would have played a sport injured - and would know that it depends on the nature of the injury in relation to the sport being played - and how bad it is that counts.

These are the details we do not know.

Was he injured at quarter time or half time ? as that would also help qualify my opinion as well.

I never saw the VFL GF.
One game wouldn't bother me anyway after what I've seen.

We all know some players dont make the transition to AFL level.
But he has as much promise as any VFL player.

Let's wait.
Gee Browns getting knocked down a peg after 10 AFL games, and Kersten is creating doubts after playing zero.

Can someone give some news on how Kersten traveling on his injury???

Shane O'Bree said today that he's been off the track again this week with what seems to be a knee problem of some sort.:(

Mentioned 'grumbling', I think. Which is exactly what I felt like doing after hearing the news.

If just for a minute we devolve the label of CHF and FF , which basically were position related , into a role relate forwardline.

What do you want from a forwardline . You need talent to beat your man and the ability to kick goals and of course these days you need mobility and pressure skills. Height is handy and needed for contested marks but imo a high percentage of kicks into the forwardline are target related. If your kicking to a contest all the time something is not working. No doubt when looking at high pressure finals games , contested marks are important due to the heat in the middle of the ground.

So Kersten , what role will he play. He will be used as a lead up or the alt forward. Brown will likewize but as he is quite tall , I cant see Kersten being played against someone too tall when Brown is also in the side. Bailout will still be a role for Hawk but may also now be something for Simpson or Hmac.

And he is a deadly kick. Find him within 45 and he is a good chance. So before writing him off as he cant do this or that , perhaps we can see what he can do when he gets to debut.
