Sounds like Nathan Foley size... mentioned earlier that comparisons to Dustin Martin were a little wide of the mark, would Foley be a better comparison, or only in terms of their height :)

His father passed away, not this Sunday just gone, but the one previous.

He'll be back in his own time. Wish him all the best.

I was filthy that we didn't rookie list him. Started a debate on the Freo board where everyone shot me down with the 'our recruiters know best' line.
Even with a strong cadre this time, I'd be totally shocked if he didn't get picked up. Whatever issues he had last year, he's shown he can deal with them. His form for West Perth is good enough for the recruiters to have him underlined.
Then again, maybe they think he is still too small. I don't agree, but I'm no pro.

Reckon you'll be shocked again.

His mate Aaron Black is more likely.

If the second part is true then he's no chance.

Strange that he can out point every draftee from Fremantle and Westcoast in his first real season at league level by a good margin and still be talked about in such a way. It's not like he's going to crumble at AFL level and it's not like he can't develop his game further.

It's his Shoulder width, lack of weapons and a few other criteria where he falls short.

Would surely think he'll get drafted as at least a rookie this year. The kids really quick, great link up player and covers the ground really well. I'd love to see him on the eagles list next year.

agree, surprised he didn't get at least a rookie spot last year and has continued on his good form this season. Hopefully a big finals series will guarantee he gets picked up.

He's better than plenty of rookies I could name.

I sincerely doubt that. I don't think there are many rookies on AFL lists that have repeatedly refused a club's request to quit another sporting pursuit that killed one of their best friends.

I've heard he is not willing to give up the motocross and obviously clubs a bit unwilling to take a kid flying around a dirt track on a motobike

You may have heard this but it is not true. There are many of other things holding him back but nothing to do with extra-curricula activities or personality.

I do like Nelson as a player though. Even though he has deficiencies, he is clean, has pace, can kick a goal and has good endurance. I was just pointing out what is holding him back. Things can be taught in a full-time system and he has a good platform to work from. You can read his stats every week and go 'wow' but there is reasons he is still is playing WAFL. I would take him as a rookie in a heartbeat because he can find the ball and just needs to learn what to do with it.
