Any of you magpies supporters seen shannon play? What do ya think of his game? wil he get a game for collingwood next season?

I like him. I like him a lot.

I've seen him play and no wonder they say he has untapped talent. He should be a fine player. He has some very good attributes - can play up forward as a smallish marking option and drive rebounds as a backman - but must settle down in one position prior to his debut.

If he could play 5 - 10 games next season, I think that will stand him in good stead in his future career.

Scott Reid is his name, he's 192cm already. Something to get excited about I'm sure.

Yep, I heard the Swans are spewing we got under their guard. Reid wanted to play in the AFL heartland. He's from NSW and could of gone to Freo, Swans or the Pies and chose us.

i rekon he'l make it...has some tools to start off with..he is just that ackward body shape in he isnt a monster defender to take the no.1 forward but he proberly isnt quick enough to play on a slippery HFF/FP. he will play a bit of a bowden role id say?maybe even a defensive/attacking winger?cant see him playing true wing or through the middle of the ground?

Not saying he wont make it just saying comparing him to Franklin IS OVERRATING HIM , he has shown promise but he still has a way to go!

Lets be honest now...How can you say comparing him to Franklin would be over-rating him??? Who the hell is Franklin and what's he done apart from a couple of junk games towards the end of the season...

I don't know Cox nor have i seen him play but being compared to Franklin is certainly not over-rating him.

Mature aged and has been used quite well as a utility in the season. Kicked goals for the reserves as he is a super talent in the forward line with a great lead and strong hands. He was used at the other end for the seniors and showed plenty, especially as the season grew. His game in the VFL Prelim was something to go by. Was sensational as a running, rebounding player.

Similar style and similar type of player. I didnt rate him the same, just comparing build and style and type of game.
I would still disagree. Franklin is a freak and plays key position.

Cox looks like he has a lot of servicable attributes such as good evasiveness and good decision making. Good athletic attributes, but nothing overwhelmingly explosive (unlike Buddy). He's more of a winger / flanker type.

It is actually Scott Reed (double e, no i). I know he was 190, not sure about 192 but wouldn't suprise me as was 190 at 16 years of age. Should probably end up being about 194-195.

He is in the AIS scholarship group. Has been touted as a midfielder type, but may settle into CHB given his height, as he is also regarded highly as a defender. He has very good running ability (apparantly was a junior NSW beach sprint champion a year or so ago). I think the appeal with getting to him early is we could possibly influence his development, and possibly mould him into the type of player (position-wise) we want.

I think he is actually eligible for the draft next year.

Exciting times for the club.

Well put, exactly what I was thinking.:thumbsu:

Never seen him apart from the geelong reserves semi where he looked a bit lost. Will step up and win the brownlow in 07 and then the normie when we make it to the granny.
