Wellingham showed his potential against GC by keeping Ablett in check and being damaging the other way. Needs to be played more in this role as it get him nearer the ball and he's more damaging than most others on our team. So need more time in the middle playing on the better opposition. He's a jack of all trades type, which doesn't help us much right now.

The issue with him is that we caved and gave up 17 instead of 31. Stupid of our front office and has nothing to do with him. Get rid of Nisbett ASAP IMHO and find the next Rosich.

I feel like Wellingham is a good player when he knows that he will get the result that he is seeking. If he is 100% certain that he going to get the loose/disputed ball or make the tackle he will. If he is only a 99% chance then he just goes in half hearted and loses out to the people going all out.

We should of kept the first Rosich....

You are absolutely correct.
We did as well as we were going to at pick 18.

To be honest I am unsure about Wellingham's long term future, he can't just sit in the background here and play the odd great game. He needs to be a foundation for our midfield not a bit player.

In saying that.. you are probably correct does not look like a flash draft year at all!

If he has been dropped for the 3rd time i say we leave him in the WAFL for 3-4 matches at least and let him work his way back. He showed last year when he was fit he had class but this year i haven't seen it bar the good tagging job he did on ablett.
Which was only for half a game.

i know he's cops flack here and i know he's been inconsistent this year... but i don't really understand dropping him when we have as many midfielders out at the moment as we do. imo there's others in the team who have been just as inconsistent this year, lack the class he can produce and yet are somehow immune.

I'd say he is the worst performing especially for his experience and pay packet. Masten was the other I thought was poor but he seemed to step it up a bit last weekend.

He has been very disappointing to say the least I know he aint no lone ranger but
as one of the older players on the list he rarely leads by example . Simmo had no choice but to drop him ,hes made the statement that its time to test the kids on the list ,Wellers may be spending the rest of the season at East Perth....its not a great endorsement about his future .
