Despite being injured he played some pretty good games last year. I remember some commentators even talking him up as our best midfielder. This year - maybe half a game tagging Ablett. Its sad to see a player go backwards at a rate of knots.

The problem with Wellingham is all above the shoulders.
Nothing to do with height, or weight or speed. Its attitude.
Looks like he's sitting back putting in about 70% effort as we aren't going to achieve much this season.
Just had a quick look who was picked up with or after pick 18 and Collingwood and Gundy looks the best and we sure didn't need another ruck.
Simpson needs to hand out some tough love and play him in the WAFL for the next month then play him in the final games if he earns a spot. Give him a dose of what a career looks like playing outside of the top level and if he deserves it give him a taste late in the year of what he's been missing because he wasn't prepared to work harder.
Would do the same for Cripps.
Would make a big statement to the entire playing group.

I don't care how well he played today, this kid needs at least two good games in the WAFL before he's considered for selection.
Next in line - Chris Masten
Thought Masten has been good łast couple of weeks.Yeah, Wellingham was pretty good last year, I was expecting him to be possibly our best mid this season. Masten's form has also dropped off quite a lot this year after he had been showing improvement each season.
That goes for most of the team. The problem with Wellingham is all above the shoulders.
That's a good start, not a cause to bring him back in, his problem is consistency, the coach needs to say "great work, now do it again next week". Once he starts stringing 2-3 good games together it might have clicked for him.Wellingham lead EP for inside 50s yesterday and he played the position yesterday he needs to play in AFL
Kicked 3 points (from 3 tough kicks) but still had 28 and 3 shots on goal with 7 inside 50s.
Or he could tap him on the cheek when he has a good game like he did with Priddis. that is the national sign of approval according to Tracker. That's a good start, not a cause to bring him back in, his problem is consistency, the coach needs to say "great work, now do it again next week".
